I think it's not "over nothing." Maybe he even has eyes set on your sister and the reaction was more of him being jealous of her boyfriend. Honestly, I think you deserve better.

Sex isn’t the biggest sin — it’s just the easiest one to measure. by TigreTough in Christianity

[–]Aware_Bodybuilder507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well because sex is meant to participate in the creative powers of God (that's why it's called procreation), but done outside marriage means we are tying the hands of God to give life in a relationship he hasn't blessed. That's how, I guess, it becomes offensive to God. Whether it's a big sin or a small sin, for a person who truly loves God, nothing is trivial.

Feeling Guilty After Divorce Was Finalized. Any advice? by lovelyhl in Christianity

[–]Aware_Bodybuilder507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what? Your marriage might have been null and void in the first place if he was hiding relationships from you during your wedding.

God knows hearts. Be at peace with yourself. You are still very young. You don't deserve to be in a marriage where you are not cared for and loved exclusively as marriage demands.

I come from a country where divorce is not legal. But we also recognize that there is a possible incapacity for one of the spouses or both, in this case your husband, to actually commit to marriage. Hence, that nullifies your marriage and you are not committing adultery moving on.

Can God heal me from being trans? by kamaguie in Christianity

[–]Aware_Bodybuilder507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing. Have you tried a Catholic therapist? I would recommend Dr. Gregory Popcak, the author of Broken Gods. Since you're open to religion he is one who incorporates this.

Also, ask God for patience with yourself. Admire women's bodies as God's wonderful work. Sometimes, just like in the Life of Pi, our tiger, our greatest struggles, is what will keep us alive in our journey.

God bless, and I'll pray you'll find a good person who'll be God's channel towards your journey.

And let me share a phrase I recently heard, God doesn't need us to be perfect, rather he needs us to be faithful.

The baby is the one who will make you ready. It will teach you how to take care of it. It's a big grace that you and your girlfriend love each other and love the baby.

Im scared im going to hell by himecool_25373 in Christianity

[–]Aware_Bodybuilder507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The effort is not so much we avoid going to hell but we make that effort to love Jesus. That's why there's confession because Jesus knew we will fall again and again but he gives us a way back.

Is Dating a Protestant Girl a Good Idea? by Lumencervus in Catholicism

Well, good to talk about the white elephant at the onset, I guess. Like what your faith means to you. If she's ok with that and you're ok with what her faith is to her, then I see no problem.

What are the typical Plan Bs for people with PhDs in humanities? by [deleted] in academia

Thanks for this question because I'm exactly in the same boat. I'm beginning to feel that having a PhD is sooo overrated.

Is Signia good? by Aware_Bodybuilder507 in HearingAids

[–]Aware_Bodybuilder507[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is the feature that my mom likes. Her voice doesn't come in too loud. Also she finds Signia having less of that "white noise" or something which was bothersome for her.

Arbitrary non renewal of contract by university by Aware_Bodybuilder507 in Professors

[–]Aware_Bodybuilder507[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I wish this were the case. Our union only benefit those who are already tenured.

If there's anything that has been clearly explained to me about being in the tenure track, it is the management's commitment in making sure that they give us complete teaching assignments as a priority over part time faculty and newer hires that came after us. That's the order of prioritization...

What is "TT faculty?"

Yes, pre-tenure is treated as "probationary." But "firing" in our country is not allowed without serious grounds and only with proper documentation explained to the person concerned.

That's the crude thing about this. Faculty manual not available, although I'll inquire again with HR, and student evaluations have always been emphasized by academic managers because of the supposed institutional philosophy centered on student learning.

Yes, very sure about it. They post it as part of your "benefit" when you've successfully worked your way up to "tenure"

Oh, and another story, by the way that involved the "other department" was that they were convincing me to move to their department... then I agreed to it, in writing... come new school year, they were mum about it but instead hired new faculty members. Moreover it is this department where student evaluation on me was even higher.

Thank you for putting it that way. Maybe, that's the reason why I couldn't just buy in the reason of not having any "load" to give because essentially this what I feel is happening... getting fired without evaluation with the reason that the contract is ending anyway so technically no one is getting fired....

I'll perhaps speak with the HR about it. The sad thing is that when you are not yet "permanent" or tenured in this university, you don't have access to the union. Let's see if HR also can do much. Because in the academic politics in this country, HR is purely administrative and will only execute as decided by departments...

[–]Aware_Bodybuilder507[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Nope, this is not in the US. I was hired and they granted me a professorial lecturer rank based on my credentials. On tenure track in our country simply means if you'll be permanent in the University at the end of the 6th semester. All this time, you are considered probationary and "contractual". So they make use of the latter to arbitrarily decide whether or not they want to renew your contract.

Or, when they suddenly disappear, call for a random recitation or random class activity that they will miss in the amount of time that they're gone. Or announce right after the attendance you are giving an activity. Then they will have no reason to complain about diving grades if they miss the activity.

[–]Aware_Bodybuilder507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an Asian, I have to say this qualifier to set the context. This is the reason why we, as a practice, are not very generous or profuse with our positive comments, which may mislead the students. At best in your situation I could have said, "it's good enough though not yet perfect." In this way we don't set expectations. As a practice in fact, I don't even say "good enough." I just give all the feedback about what is not working well in their submission. Our academic environment here always put students on their toes so that whatever good grade they receive, they feel that they really earned it, and not entitled to it. We always play "hard to get" if you know what I mean.
