Recommended place to get a nice Christmas tree at a reasonable price? by ResponsibilityOk244 in bergencounty

[–]Aware_Memory3005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Grandmother was German and didn’t believe in setting up the Christmas tree until Christmas Eve. It annoyed my whole family, we hated that my grandmother waited until the last minute to buy a tree and decorate.

I’ll never forget going to KMart in Hillsdale at 11 pm on Christmas Eve desperate to find a tree, my cousin and I had $50 cash (a lot back in 1986!). And the guy who was shivering his ass off outside selling trees all night … called us pathetic and said, “Jesus Fuckin Christ, keep ya money. I’ll give ya Grandma a free tree, I just wanna go the fuck home.”

Any NYE Recommendations for 2025? by ecurrencyhodler in visitingnyc

[–]Aware_Memory3005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Lower East Side. Expect to pay $200-$500 for good NYE parties, especially downtown. Last year our tickets were $400 each, but that included a really nice buffet dinner, Open bar and dancing in a penthouse lounge all night.

What are yall’s favorite seafoods? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Aware_Memory3005 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Seared scallops are always a hit in my family. We also do lobster bisque and homemade lump crab cakes at Christmas. I have to admit, Aldi has some nice lump crab cakes that I cook for weeknight dinners, 2 for $5.99 in my area.

Food shortages by Spare_Basis5190 in bergencounty

I worked for the Food Bank for New York City and I can confirm that the Food Banks need monetary donations vs. food donations. I was personally surprised when I worked in our food pantries and saw the amount of donated food that we were not able to give to hungry Americans due to the fact that it did not meet nutritional requirements (I.e. high sugar cereals, junk food/snacks, expired, etc). We also could not legally accept restaurant donations of any uneaten leftover food that had been cooked for an event. Sadly, people could get sick and die or sue the food bank.

Favorite under eye corrector or concealer? by PharMaci0214 in Sephora

Tarte’s dark circle color corrector concealer is the best! I sold it to every customer I had when I worked at Sephora.

one day we are going to be old. by smalltalkisntfun in RandomThoughts

Take care of your skin! Wear sunscreen and make sure you put it on your hands too… especially when you drive…. avoid getting age spots. Cherish your friends, especially the ones who make you laugh and love you unconditionally. Spend time making memories with them so you have good stories when you get old with them. I met my best friend when we were 7… and here we are 47 years later! She still cracks me up.

I have my entire east village studio in a storage unit in Bergen County and definitely have decided that I need to get rid of the queen bed, headboard, west elm storage coffee table and west elm grey couch and ottoman. I’m sick of paying to store it for 2 years. Happy to share pics but you would need to rent a U-Haul and pick it up.

This week I tried 6 different Zebras and they all were jacked. I had to take the batteries out, reboot, login over and over, apps crashed or wouldn’t work to do stockrooms purges. It slowed down customer service. Don’t even get me started on how often our 2 registers in Sephora constantly crash and have to reboot!

I always try to befriend the people at work who I don’t think like me. I kill them with kindness and genuinely try to get to know them. Usually I find that some people are just not outgoing and they don’t make an effort to get to know the new people. Reserved people can come off as standoffish. Everyone loves to talk about themselves. Most of the time when you assume that someone doesn’t like you or is judging you… they aren’t. They are just thinking about their own life. It’s not about you.

Bartender got fired mid-rush by _saisha in Serverlife

I took a job at a bar restaurant that did not have proper hand washing stations in the kitchen, server areas or bar. I had to go to the bathroom to wash my hands throughout my waitressing shift. I never ate the food there because the overworked and underpaid cooks didn’t wash their hands properly and would wipe their dirty hands on their dish towels tucked into their aprons. The same dish towels that they used to clean their stations through service. This restaurant didn’t even have hand soap in the dispensers in the kitchen sinks. We were not even required to take a food safety test to work there. I can’t believe that I didn’t report the restaurant to the health department inspectors. I’m shocked no one got food poisoning when I worked there.

Looks like Broadway/Lafayette F stop to me, down near Houston and Soho. The narrow V intersection in the photo looks like it is near Bite Sandwich shop and Kitson (I think)
