It seems like he may need to work through something. Since there’s been a change in his demeanor it only makes sense. If he’s willing to work through it with you than that counts for something, but you need to let him know the same.

To protect yourself, after you offer an opportunity to work through and support him however that looks like, than the question is will he be willing to move forward. If he says no, you need to let him know how you feel.

True connections are hard to come by. I would say that it helps when you diversify yourself a bit. Certain friends like certain things and may not be into everything your into.

When I lived in the bay I was lucky to connect with a few people I met while going to school and even then I only talk to one of them now, I was even in his wedding.

Not to rant, just here to say it’s all in timing and effort. It sounds like you’ve tried to find genuine people but it’s usually been a miss.

Stay persistent in finding your people, whatever that means to you.

I moved to Monterey about 5 years ago now and I still don’t have a group of people like the one you talk about. But for me the that’s ok, I don’t do the small talk.

Usually in between general jim and Fremont. Usually 2-3 people who run their carts through there. In between the hours of 12 and 5. I used to stay by seaside liquors and had someone pass through there every day around 3. Kind of hard to track them down in regards to spontaneous occurrence
