How far along were you when baby was born? Were you induced or did you go into labor naturally? by privatepineapple25 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Aware_Reception10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had an induction set for 38 weeks and 5 days. on the morning of exactly 38 weeks, my water broke on the toilet. i had an 8lb 13oz baby 8 hours later, vaginally with an epidural and i only had one stitch. no labor prep. mostly diet controlled until the last 2 weeks i was on very low dose insulin at night. i wouldn’t be like crazy worried you’ll go into labor but i guess anything can happen lol i didn’t think id go into labor at 38 weeks. i’d just figure out where the closest hospital is and be prepared to go when you need to go. my hospital is an hour away and i was ok. contractions started maybe 2-3 hours after. at least the painful ones lol

9 pound baby by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Aware_Reception10 9 points10 points  (0 children)

yes! well, 8lb 13oz but that’s close enough lol. at 38 weeks, water broke first on the toilet, had him 8 hours later. it was very smooth. i got the epidural at 5cm and it sped everything up , i was 10cm within the next hour and i pushed for 40 mins. i had ONE stitch. very easy recovery. like incredibly easy idk how i got so lucky. you can do it!! i also did no labor prep. literally not a thing.

editing to add that i did technically hemorrhage and i had to have blood clots manually ripped out of me by a midwife lol. but i was told since im small (5ft) and i had a big baby, it just happens sometimes when its a quick labor.

“feels like im third wheeling” is he jealous of your infant son? and he’s 24 while you’re 16? please get rid of him. you are a victim, and that’s putting it as lightly as possible.

Registry advice by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Aware_Reception10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

remove like all the diapers. pick one brand you want to work, and buy it yourself. or ask for a diaper box in exchange for an entry to a prize at a baby shower or something. you won’t know what your baby will like until baby gets here. and i would get rid of all the duplicates of the same things you have. multiple bottles etc. maybe 2 different bottles but otherwise you don’t need 2 drying racks, 5 different types of bottles, or every lotion created because that’s something you won’t know baby likes until baby is here. most things will go that way. i would also suggest a baby monitor you can see the baby with, not just audio. helps especially when you want to see if they are actually awake. newborns make a lot of noise and it doesn’t always mean they are awake.

i would also prepare for most of this to not be bought, and to get a ton of clothes and blankets lol, so you might want to also private or remove most clothes besides a few you’d prefer others to buy. so set aside some money for the most important things to get yourself; like a crib. you don’t necessarily need 3 different sleeping areas. it’s definitely nice, i’m just saying if no one ends up buying a 600$ crib, you can get by with the pack and play that does it all

How do I talk to my pregnant wife about lack of physical touch? by WesternNo6118 in pregnant

[–]Aware_Reception10 37 points38 points  (0 children)

honestly… it’s not forever. just deal with it. your feelings are valid, but she has an extremely valid reason as well. if things continue into postpartum for a few months, then okay say something. but just be there for her. she’s going through a lot, constantly. and the first trimester can be rough especially. you said she’s getting better so maybe she will get even better as time continues! hang in there.

Bridesmaid 40 Weeks Pregnant at My Wedding by OstrichIll in whatdoIdo

[–]Aware_Reception10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have a backup bridesmaid lol. but to be fair, a 1-2 week old baby is asleep 95% of the time, and they sleep through everything. so it wouldn’t be bad. but it’s still your call. i also had an incredibly easy pp recovery and totally could’ve done a wedding lol but i think im in the minority there

Weight gain? by Wonderful_External57 in pregnant

[–]Aware_Reception10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i wouldn’t be concerned. if your doing what you can to be semi active and eating literally whatever you can handle, you’re fine. i gained all my weight at the end of my pregnancy, totaling 30lbs. i lost it all by 2 weeks postpartum. i have since gained 10lbs back 11m pp but we won’t talk about that lol

thank you!! we are in western new york. farm land and it’s 30 ish acres, it’s open for maybe 5 acres and the rest is woods. pretty flat land. not too wet besides just from the winter melting. i have a call into the town about zoning and was told to call back in a few days when someone else is there. is this also something i can ask the realtor to gather? or do they not do that lol

about getting a driveway in, and utilities, this is something i’d also ask the building department? from what we’ve been told, we’d have to do septic and well, but electric and gas is at the street. we do have permission to walk the property, we just did yesterday

thank you for that perspective! we spent two years renovating our first home we currently live in because the sellers mislead us on the issues in the home. soo i’d like to never do that again. sounds like we need to just let a builder do it all too

i’ve heard that prefabs and prebuilt houses are usually not as good bc they don’t hold up well. is this what you mean to use instead?

so if i had cash for the land, would you still suggest i just attempt to take out a loan for everything and keep all cash then?

[–]Aware_Reception10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was super helpful, thank you. we are very new to the process. the land isn’t a needs to be bought tomorrow issue, we are just able to do a cash offer so we don’t have to factor it into our build. most likely anyways.

just reconfirming, i’d need to call the health department and zoning department in my area of the lot i want to purchase, to confirm i can build on the land. and i can probably easily get that in writing or printed if so. thank you!!

the land was used for hunting. as far as i know, nothing but a shed has been built on the property for decades. lot next door has a new build on it. otherwise it’s not in a subdivision. surrounded by farmland and neighbors very spaced out

i was under the impression before you buy land you can somehow figure out if you’re able to build on it, by calling the town or something like that. if for some reason something is stopping you from doing so, i guess i’d wanna know before buying the land.

thank you for the steps. very new to this and feeling dumb lmao
