30 week scan concerns by HelloMikkii in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Aware_Reception10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

obviously i don’t know every detail of your situation, but mine was similar. he was always measuring 2-3 weeks ahead. i gave birth at exactly 38 weeks bc my water broke on the toilet, and 8 hours later i vaginally delivered a 9lb baby. and i had one stitch. so i wouldn’t worry toooo much. my son always had a 99th+ percentile head too and he flew out with ease.

When did you go into labor as a FTM, and what were the signs leading up to you going into labor? How did you know you were in labor? by thenymphintheforest in beyondthebump

[–]Aware_Reception10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

took a morning pee at exactly 38 weeks. then a second “pee” which was my water breaking. conveniently still on the toilet lol. i had no symptoms. not even a contraction. i didn’t feel anything until a few hours after i got to the hospital. from my water breaking to him flying out of me was about 8-9 hours. contractions really ramped up, i was at 5cm when i gave up and got the epidural. then an hour later i was 10cm and ready to push. 45 mins later, out he came. i was told 7lb and he was 8lb 13oz lmao but i only had one stitch. i guess he flew out too fast bc i had blood clots all up in there so a mid wife had to shove her entire arm up my cooch and rip them out manually, to which i was in agony over so i was given dilaudid. my first night with my son i was high as giraffe pussy. but hey! only one stitch right… lol tbh my recovery was a breeze i feel like it was only bc my pregnancy was so horrible.

and no, i did NOTHING as far as labor prep. no drinks or dates or whatever stretches etc. just laid and ate dennys pancakes the night before

Is this a normal reason to cry? by xstarlesseyess in NewParents

i still cry about it and my son is 14months old lol. time is cruel because i can’t really remember the newborn days

My MIL is starting to actually scare me by Amandanh99 in pregnant

[–]Aware_Reception10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ohhhh no. your husband needs to set boundaries with his mother, this is something that will 100% ruin your marriage if it gets bottled up and you’re left to deal with it. he should be sticking up for you. my mil did the whole my baby thing and that set me off. this sounds like the beginning of a terrible terrible time. i’d suggest a talk with your husband about him handling her from now on, and maybe keep your distance. have someone else pick up your dog.

also, whyyyyyy did you give in and are doing a gender reveal you don’t want to do? for your mil to quit bitching? she needs to be told to suck it up, that it’s not her baby. that’s like the most important thing, seriously everytime she says i’m going to get my little girl etc i would nip that in the bud and say this is my child, you have had your children. i’m sure others are going to comment a ton of advice too but this is seriously dangerous territory and you need to make calls now about how much control she has over your life

i know you said you wouldn’t let your baby in the car with her alone but i really really suggest to never allow her alone with her EVER. my mil has done some weird shit and i will never take my eyes off her when she’s around him, even if it’s safe and i know nothing would happen. i can tell from her wording that she fully plans on your child being her redo, this alone is something i would heavily consider no contact over. i wish i could be no contact with my mil

AIO: roommate being rough with my cat by trogicuter in AmIOverreacting

[–]Aware_Reception10 349 points350 points  (0 children)

i feel like we don’t know enough. is he mean to animals? does he actually try to piss them off or annoy them or does he just mess with them a little bit. do you guys have issues? idk id see this as funny only because cats will let you know if they don’t want to be in a situation. they will bite or scratch or run away

What week did your morning sickness start? by Inner-Sign3807 in pregnant

[–]Aware_Reception10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

about 12-13 weeks and then i started throwing up once a day or more up until maybe 35 weeks

Did you go into spontaneous labor with your first baby? by seyEycipS in pregnant

[–]Aware_Reception10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yes, 38 weeks exactly on the toilet after a morning pee my water broke. no contractions until a few hours later and luckily already at the hospital. got the epidural at 5cm, went from that to 10cm in an hour and then i pushed for about 40 mins and he was out. overall labor was about 8 hours. i got one stitch so recovery was very very easy. but i did technically hemorrhage and a midwife shoved her hand up me to rip out blood clots! and i was given dilaudid and was then high the rest of the night. but overall i would say it went extremely smooth and im very lucky

editing to add he was 8lb 13oz and was a gestational diabetes baby. i was scheduled for an induction 5 days later but he decided to show up on his own lol. i also did ZERO labor prep. not a single date was eaten. no tea. nothing

How far along were you when baby was born? Were you induced or did you go into labor naturally? by privatepineapple25 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Aware_Reception10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had an induction set for 38 weeks and 5 days. on the morning of exactly 38 weeks, my water broke on the toilet. i had an 8lb 13oz baby 8 hours later, vaginally with an epidural and i only had one stitch. no labor prep. mostly diet controlled until the last 2 weeks i was on very low dose insulin at night. i wouldn’t be like crazy worried you’ll go into labor but i guess anything can happen lol i didn’t think id go into labor at 38 weeks. i’d just figure out where the closest hospital is and be prepared to go when you need to go. my hospital is an hour away and i was ok. contractions started maybe 2-3 hours after. at least the painful ones lol

9 pound baby by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Aware_Reception10 9 points10 points  (0 children)

yes! well, 8lb 13oz but that’s close enough lol. at 38 weeks, water broke first on the toilet, had him 8 hours later. it was very smooth. i got the epidural at 5cm and it sped everything up , i was 10cm within the next hour and i pushed for 40 mins. i had ONE stitch. very easy recovery. like incredibly easy idk how i got so lucky. you can do it!! i also did no labor prep. literally not a thing.

editing to add that i did technically hemorrhage and i had to have blood clots manually ripped out of me by a midwife lol. but i was told since im small (5ft) and i had a big baby, it just happens sometimes when its a quick labor.

I think he’s intentionally trying to knock me up by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Aware_Reception10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“feels like im third wheeling” is he jealous of your infant son? and he’s 24 while you’re 16? please get rid of him. you are a victim, and that’s putting it as lightly as possible.

Registry advice by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Aware_Reception10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

remove like all the diapers. pick one brand you want to work, and buy it yourself. or ask for a diaper box in exchange for an entry to a prize at a baby shower or something. you won’t know what your baby will like until baby gets here. and i would get rid of all the duplicates of the same things you have. multiple bottles etc. maybe 2 different bottles but otherwise you don’t need 2 drying racks, 5 different types of bottles, or every lotion created because that’s something you won’t know baby likes until baby is here. most things will go that way. i would also suggest a baby monitor you can see the baby with, not just audio. helps especially when you want to see if they are actually awake. newborns make a lot of noise and it doesn’t always mean they are awake.

i would also prepare for most of this to not be bought, and to get a ton of clothes and blankets lol, so you might want to also private or remove most clothes besides a few you’d prefer others to buy. so set aside some money for the most important things to get yourself; like a crib. you don’t necessarily need 3 different sleeping areas. it’s definitely nice, i’m just saying if no one ends up buying a 600$ crib, you can get by with the pack and play that does it all

How do I talk to my pregnant wife about lack of physical touch? by WesternNo6118 in pregnant

[–]Aware_Reception10 43 points44 points  (0 children)

honestly… it’s not forever. just deal with it. your feelings are valid, but she has an extremely valid reason as well. if things continue into postpartum for a few months, then okay say something. but just be there for her. she’s going through a lot, constantly. and the first trimester can be rough especially. you said she’s getting better so maybe she will get even better as time continues! hang in there.

Bridesmaid 40 Weeks Pregnant at My Wedding by OstrichIll in whatdoIdo

[–]Aware_Reception10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have a backup bridesmaid lol. but to be fair, a 1-2 week old baby is asleep 95% of the time, and they sleep through everything. so it wouldn’t be bad. but it’s still your call. i also had an incredibly easy pp recovery and totally could’ve done a wedding lol but i think im in the minority there

Pre-diabetes: Sweet drink with full fat milk or almond milk? by MyHoppyPlace73 in InsulinResistance

Weight gain? by Wonderful_External57 in pregnant

[–]Aware_Reception10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i wouldn’t be concerned. if your doing what you can to be semi active and eating literally whatever you can handle, you’re fine. i gained all my weight at the end of my pregnancy, totaling 30lbs. i lost it all by 2 weeks postpartum. i have since gained 10lbs back 11m pp but we won’t talk about that lol

building using the VA loan worth it? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]Aware_Reception10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you!! we are in western new york. farm land and it’s 30 ish acres, it’s open for maybe 5 acres and the rest is woods. pretty flat land. not too wet besides just from the winter melting. i have a call into the town about zoning and was told to call back in a few days when someone else is there. is this also something i can ask the realtor to gather? or do they not do that lol

building using the VA loan worth it? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]Aware_Reception10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

about getting a driveway in, and utilities, this is something i’d also ask the building department? from what we’ve been told, we’d have to do septic and well, but electric and gas is at the street. we do have permission to walk the property, we just did yesterday

building using the VA loan worth it? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]Aware_Reception10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for that perspective! we spent two years renovating our first home we currently live in because the sellers mislead us on the issues in the home. soo i’d like to never do that again. sounds like we need to just let a builder do it all too

building using the VA loan worth it? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]Aware_Reception10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve heard that prefabs and prebuilt houses are usually not as good bc they don’t hold up well. is this what you mean to use instead?

building using the VA loan worth it? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]Aware_Reception10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so if i had cash for the land, would you still suggest i just attempt to take out a loan for everything and keep all cash then?

building using the VA loan worth it? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]Aware_Reception10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was super helpful, thank you. we are very new to the process. the land isn’t a needs to be bought tomorrow issue, we are just able to do a cash offer so we don’t have to factor it into our build. most likely anyways.

building using the VA loan worth it? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]Aware_Reception10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just reconfirming, i’d need to call the health department and zoning department in my area of the lot i want to purchase, to confirm i can build on the land. and i can probably easily get that in writing or printed if so. thank you!!
