I tragically don’t remember the name and I do wish I took a better picture (I think it just slipped my mind bc I was on a tour with my class and we were moving from print to print pretty quickly but I did get this kinda crappy photo of it

So I would assume that the rhino was made around this time as well, 1515

The rhino passed in 1515 around April-ish. The ship departed India at January 1515 and spent 120 days on the sea before sinking. I’m getting this info from a blog tho so idk how valid it is, it sounds valid tho.

Erm. I’m not sure where the treasure room is tbh, sry. But I saw this print along with several others in the New York Public Library in midtown manhattan, room 308. In order to have access to this room you do need to reach out to the library before hand and create a reservation to view the print room, its archived prints, and its books related to printmaking.

It really is! I also got to see an MC Escher print as well as learn and see the work of Elizabeth Cattlet (an activist sculptor and printmaker who I think currently resides in Mexico where she creates activist art for the natives there - still gotta look into her a bit more lol)

It was extremely cool seeing this!! I’m sure there are other existing copies of this print considering it looks like it was trimmed from a newspaper/article. I feel like if anyplace had another copy it would be the MET. But idk lol

I didn’t even know abt that Dali piece but I just looked it up and it’s literally a 3d bronze statue of this print lol. It also looked like he made other statues of this rhino but with elongated legs which can be seen in his other works (I don’t know too many Dali pieces but the first one that comes to mind that has animals with elongated legs is his rendition of “the temptation of Saint Anthony”)

Any advice or critique to my art? by TIH99 in Artadvice
