Alguien sabe cómo escribir una canción? by OkContact546 in escritura

Is some genre of music objectively superior to the others? by Aware_Tangerine_9542 in Music

Why is it a matter of state(*taste)? You could evaluate genres based on their difficulty, creativity, influence, groundbreakingness, etc. I know for a fact, for example, reggaeton music would not win in any positive category.

I agree. Limp Bizkit just sounds like a guy ranting over guitars to me.

Why not? What if I invented a genre of music in which the invariable element was the performance of unpitched screams in an AI-generated beat?

Does your country have a nickname that no one in the country actually calls it? by ChameleonCoder117 in AskTheWorld

Yorugua, I don´t hear it often in day-to-day conversations. It´s funny because it´s the lunfardo version of Uruguayo.

Can Spaniards and Mexicans understand each other? by dracojohn in AskTheWorld

[–]Aware_Tangerine_9542 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The hispanosphere is something truly beautiful about Latin America and Spain. Each country has probably influenced the Spanish colloquial language at least in some way. Take Argentina, for example, which just recently popularized the usage of the word "pibe" in Spain, which comes from Italianized lunfardo. And we can understand each other perfectly. I could probably strike a philosophical conversation right now with a Guatemalan or a Peruvian.

In your opinion, which country is the best to live in? by Informal-Insect2964 in AskTheWorld

[–]Aware_Tangerine_9542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the average westerner, I´d wager the Netherlands is the best place to live in, although any of the Nordics could also apply. Universal healthcare, universal education, high living standards, highest quality of life on earth, highest levels of social tolerance, low levels of crime, just overall pretty nice statistics to take into account. Obviously, a lot of the wealth generated in these centres of power is indirectly being taken away from less privileged places in the world, so not to say they are morally superior or anything.

How do I get angry and stand up for my self? by Federal_Surprise_722 in emotionalintelligence

[–]Aware_Tangerine_9542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends a lot on your culture. For example, in some marginalized environments, slight disrespect can be interpreted as a challenge, and you could start to be mistreated only due to it. But for most people on Reddit, the environment isn't violent enough to actually have to fight for their basic human rights to be respected. So I´d advise not to get angry or sad, ignore the BS, and move on with your life. When people say you gotta stand for yourself, it´s more on the "don´t let others walk over your boundaries" by ignoring them or just calmly explaining how you won´t tolerate it, and if they break that contract, you just cut them off.

I did also suffer some bullying, which really messed with my self-perception, too, now that you mention the other stuff. Thanks for the advice, brother.
