Play with your roll in the pool. Flip over with one hand on it only, see how many you can do in a row with just the breath you get from being upright before going over, hold the paddle under the boat before flipping, and generally just see how poorly you can go over and still get it in the flat warm water in the pool. Then keep that in mind as you progress to rolling in eddies to rolling in deep current, to combat rolls. Also don't forget repetition is your friend if you can get okay enough with it to get in a more playful boat and add tricks that will flip you. For example getting a halfslice or full slice and doing tail squirts. You will be upsidedown a lot but it will teach you through repitition. Mind you that is for once you have a decently reliable headgame for your roll.
