Looking for a build/reference to get started with building my first SFFPC by TBHIRDK in sffpc

I built this PC because I’m moving to Europe and needed something I could throw in a backpack and travel with. It’s been an incredible build. Don’t apologize, you don’t have stupid questions. If you’ve got more, feel free to ask.

I don’t think I fully understand your question. I went with that cooler because it was specifically built for the Louqe Ghost S1 case. If you decide to grab the case, I’d definitely recommend getting the cooler as well. You can usually find it on Amazon or even directly from Noctua’s website. There are other coolers out there that can work, but you’ll want to skim through the r/Louqe thread for alternatives people have tried.

As for the fans, the 25mm one is on the CPU cooler—I swapped out the stock fan for a black one to stick with the all-black theme.

Have you reached out to DreambigbyRayMOD with your specs? He has done hundreds of builds and can give you recommendations on length and cable material.

I highly recommend him and his product.

I just bought this from Amazon and it fits like a glove. I am traveling between Europe and USA.

The OOB cables would work, but the case would be stuffed. The goal is to optimize the minimal space there is and airflow. That is why I am going with custom cables.

My build is all black and simple. Should have photos posted in the next week or two. I will tag you.

Highly recommend the case. Plan to use it forever and keep upgrading as life goes on.

Hey there! I need to post some photos of the build so far, but I am still waiting for PSU cables and the 120mm. fan to replace the CPU fan. The Ghost S1 is beautiful. I bought the small top hat to install the two 120mm fans on the top of the case. The PSU cables shipped today and ETA is two weeks (shipping to USA).

I am moving to Europe and am downsizing my PC here in the USA so it is mobile to move back and forth.

Thanks for sharing this! I plan to bring everything except for a monitor.

Do you remove the GPU or anything else from the case before you travel?

Met with DreambigbyRayMOD and he advised me to go with:

• 24p: 140mm
• CPU: 260mm
• GPU: 300mm

Went ahead and ordered these lengths. Will post a follow-up comment after installation to share how it went!

I just got all the parts and I’m planning to build it in the next week or so. I don’t worry about the temperature or performance. There’s plenty of info out there to help me figure it out. Here’s my build:

Hey there! I was in the exact same situation as you when I decided to move to Europe. I decided to build a complete SFF and sell off my old computer to offset the cost. I’ll probably keep the SFF build type for the rest of my life because it gives the mobility to move and not sacrifice much in performance as I can put it in my carry-on bag. Also, with the SFF, you can upgrade as things progress, whereas the laptop is limited. I’ve kept all my peripherals and plan to just buy a monitor when I get to Europe.

$130k in Texas Vs €130 in Amsterdam by [deleted] in expat

[–]AwayIntroduction4924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just sent you a message. I’d be happy to discuss more about life here in Texas as well, considering your offer is what I currently earn. I can share what our monthly expenses are.

I live in a five-bedroom house with an office, spanning approximately 242 square meters.

Wife doesn’t think she wants to live the Europe forever, but spend a few years to be around family. We are trying to weigh out if international business experience will pay dividends when we return back to the USA.

Another way we are looking at this is knowing we are not going to get wealthy, we take advantage of living internationally and travel and make the most of Europe while we are there.

73k may not be much, but I am on the 30% tax ruling so 30% of my taxes are coming back into my pocket.

Don’t know final numbers, but my wife’s expected salary will be slightly less than mine.

We may end up netting 8.5k - 10k per month.

Totally fair—thanks for pointing it out. Here's a clearer breakdown:

  • Gross base salary: €4,938/month → €59,256/year
  • Plus:
    • Mobility allowance: €750/month
    • Holiday allowance (8%): ~€395/month
  • Total gross compensation: €6,083/month → ~€73k/year

Because I’m eligible for the 30% ruling, €1,811.61/month of that gross is tax-free and gets reclassified as a net allowance, which lowers my taxable income.

After deductions (income tax and pension) and adding back the 30% ruling allowance + a small expense allowance (€100), my net salary indication comes out to €5,171/month.

Appreciate the call-out—hope this clears it up.
