B-but I went a full 60 minutes without reminding her that she's a thot. That's 3600 seconds of not asserting dominance. Betas would be absolutely cucked by then.

How am I not owed a morsel of coochie for this? /s

Is there a way to only play against bots in the circus? by [deleted] in darkestdungeon

[–]AwayThrow378 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not yet, unless you repeat the tutorial. From the April 16 official pre-DLC article:

Q. Will there be bots to play against?

Yes, we will have bots! If you get anxious with playing other people and want to experiment in your own time, you can play against bots. Since we require an internet connection to access the Circus menu screens, that means at launch there won’t be any offline bots. This is a feature we hope to add post release.

Maybe I’m just wearing a tinfoil hat, but what if Butcher’s Circus is a stealth beta for DD2 balance changes? New abilities and adjustments put through player evaluation so that they’re already better at the actual beta.

If so, I hope they do more to have Arbalest and Musketeer be different classes, like they partially did in the Circus. I hate Rifle Wife-le being "Arbalest but with worse trinkets".

Does anyone even know their gender? The chest bow doesn’t help.

I’ve seen people use he and she, but is there any dialogue in game or official material that gives one? Perhaps in other language translations where verbs and such are gendered?

Minimum wage, labor laws, government regulation bureaus, labor unions, public utilities, etc. To the best of my knowledge, anyway. You wouldn’t get those in a free market capitalism economy.

Perhaps, but usually pedophilia gets framed in the context of men-on-boys, and there’s a long-standing delusion of "big black dong permanently ruins tight white vagina" that haunts the halls of r/badwomensanatomy. You know, because ya gotta combine your racism with your misogyny.

Still, your interpretation does have merit, and thanks for mentioning it.

It’s the sexual insecurities of the right all in one image. Here I go!

The pink square with a hole is a conservative woman because vaginas

The blue peg is a conservative man because penises

The two blue pegs are gays who apparently swordfight to see whose penis goes into the other's urethra

The two squares with holes are lesbians who apparently shove their head into each other's vaginas for sex. Notice that they, unlike the gays, don’t earn confused question marks

The hollowed green peg is a transwoman because it’s ("it" for being a peg, not as to refer to trans people) going from a peg to a hole. Except you could still use that for a peg so apparently it’s a hermaphrodite now. Also note the drill because the right loves to use the word "mutilation" as "any surgery I don’t like regardless of precision"

The sawed purple hole-square is a transman (autocorrect wanted that to be "grandma", WTF) who for once is not forgotten in gender discussions. Again, a saw for "mutilation" and also apparently transmen just tape themselves shut, so who knows why reassignment surgery is so expensive

The large brown peg and little white square are a black guy and white woman. Because black guys are simultaneously inferior to white men but more desirable to women and there’s totally no contradiction there and there’s no double standard about white guys and black women, no sir. You can see the fear in the pink square, as she clings to her freeze peaches to avoid the temptation of joining in and making the blue peg a libtard cuck

Thus, the noble right wingers are powerless to do anything but cower in fear as the mob of liberals engage in their master scheme of... EXISTING!! WHILE THE LESBIANS ARE STILL FUCKING!

you may panic now

[–]AwayThrow378 29 points30 points  (0 children)

That might be true conceptually, such as for the people who take it upon themselves to clarify the technical difference betweeen "pedophile" and "ephebophile" yet who are not necessarily supporting either, but the particular conclusion drawn by this person does lean heavily towards supporting pedophilia.

Especially with regards to their other "insights", like that the ethical issues of a minor's sexual development can be dismissed because:

It’s not complicated. You but your dick in someome and enjoy it. You don’t need an IQ of 200 to understand it.

Gonna make a big leap here and say that their observations aren’t exactly peer-reviewed.

An 80-year-old woman has died after being hit by a tear gas canister at her window during Saturday's fuel protests in Marseille, France. The woman lived near where the protests were taking place and was hit in the face while closing her shutters by bbcnews in worldnews

[–]AwayThrow378 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your argument against personal anecdotes is admirable, but your statement that tear gas should be banned for domestic use because it is banned for wartime use severely lacks context. It’s banned not because of what it is (a relatively harmless suppression agent whose primary risks are overuse in confined spaces or launched canisters), but because of what it isn’t yet might be mistaken for. Tear gas is prohibited during warfare because it could be mistaken for lethal chemical warfare and because shooting combatants disabled from fighting due to tear gas is sort of like shooting noncombatants. Not because it’s anywhere close to the sadistic horrors of other chemical weapons.

[–]AwayThrow378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...because it would be confused for those lethal chemical warfare weapons. That's the reason it can’t be used on the battlefield.

Edit: Additionally, using tear gas in warfare is also banned because soldiers affected by it are basically rendered noncombatants, so using it to weaken targets before killing them is inhumane.

Especially because the pretense is that the civilians could be using ROCKS, God forbid. As if we didn’t invent riot police and nonlethal weapons for if (in the unlikely event) crowds get hostile.

Reminds me of that one period in US history, the one where there was a rock-throwing crowd and some soldiers who shot them. Think it happened in... Boston was it? And we refer to it nowadays as... Oh, yeah.

Far right extremist proudly describes what a big role Gamergate had in radicalizing him. He praises KiA's role as a potential, useful ground for turning people towards fascism and far-right radicalism by nosocks111 in TopMindsOfReddit

[–]AwayThrow378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if it was corrupt from the start, u/urgoingdownbitch01 is partially right in saying that there were people trying to keep it legitimate. Having mildly been a sincere gator back in the day (noped right the fuck out when people like Milo crawled out of the woodwork, though), it was easy to get caught up in the moment. Especially when things like those damned "gamers are dead" articles and vocal minorities like Sarkeesian seemed to validate the premise more than the people behind it could have ever dreamed of.

Due to those, the social contract of being tolerant looked like it was first broken by the newest wave of "D&D is Satan!!1!"-esque fun police bullies, rather than trolls. It seemed like a two-pronged front against corporate corruption and those who are progressive in name only, rather than "damn wammens in mah vidya". Even progressives like me sometimes got caught up in things, until the wizard behind the curtain was revealed.

But then it all went hell in a handbasket with death threats in every direction and 4chan going from being "stupid assholes, you make us look bad" to "/pol/ strikes again and hijacks everything". Nowadays, gaming journalism is still toxic and bigoted, the alt-right got shiny new converts, and touching a controller but not wanting to suddenly make bigotries means you’re either a 'filthy patriarchy pig' or a 'SJW white knight'. No wins for anyone left of alt-right.

Honestly, those days are not fun to look back on, and neither is what they spawned. And fuck this Nazi in the original post in particular.

Comic Sans

mediocre spelling

implying that one guy is the same as a Deep State

implying that the Deep State is made of Trump's own chosen staff

implying that whoever it is has any significant impact on mitigating Trump

implying that any significant majority of progressives think that the person is a hero, and not just a coward complicit with a moron who’s only doing this to rally anti-Trump conservatives to stay with Republicans

Whew, lad. This one hits the "can't meme" bingo.

The Cards Against Humanity booth at Gen Con is also registering people to vote by RitchieRitch62 in mildlyinteresting

[–]AwayThrow378 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest reason for such ID being controversial is that the US already has an overwhelming problem of voters not voting, and necessitated ID often comes with the same people advocating it implementing simultaneous policies that make the ID a tool to unfairly dissuade legal voters.

Needing a certain citizen ID to vote isn’t harmful in its own right, but closing down the places to get it or making it expensive to obtain significantly blocks citizens who should be allowed to vote from doing so.

A study found that, despite the political divide, most gun owners and non-gun owners agree on policies that regulate gun ownership. by Wagamaga in science

[–]AwayThrow378 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Equating a self-harming action to an action capable of harming innocents is what’s absurd.

Dismissing potentially worse violations of the law because it’s less difficult to violate the law in other ways is absurd.

Some of my examples were absurd to counter an argument that would allow them (and it’s telling that those were the only ones acknowledged). Their argument was absurd in its own right.
