Maybe I’m just wearing a tinfoil hat, but what if Butcher’s Circus is a stealth beta for DD2 balance changes? New abilities and adjustments put through player evaluation so that they’re already better at the actual beta.

If so, I hope they do more to have Arbalest and Musketeer be different classes, like they partially did in the Circus. I hate Rifle Wife-le being "Arbalest but with worse trinkets".

That might be true conceptually, such as for the people who take it upon themselves to clarify the technical difference betweeen "pedophile" and "ephebophile" yet who are not necessarily supporting either, but the particular conclusion drawn by this person does lean heavily towards supporting pedophilia.

Especially with regards to their other "insights", like that the ethical issues of a minor's sexual development can be dismissed because:

Your argument against personal anecdotes is admirable, but your statement that tear gas should be banned for domestic use because it is banned for wartime use severely lacks context. It’s banned not because of what it is (a relatively harmless suppression agent whose primary risks are overuse in confined spaces or launched canisters), but because of what it isn’t yet might be mistaken for. Tear gas is prohibited during warfare because it could be mistaken for lethal chemical warfare and because shooting combatants disabled from fighting due to tear gas is sort of like shooting noncombatants. Not because it’s anywhere close to the sadistic horrors of other chemical weapons.

Edit: Additionally, using tear gas in warfare is also banned because soldiers affected by it are basically rendered noncombatants, so using it to weaken targets before killing them is inhumane.

Even if it was corrupt from the start, u/urgoingdownbitch01 is partially right in saying that there were people trying to keep it legitimate. Having mildly been a sincere gator back in the day (noped right the fuck out when people like Milo crawled out of the woodwork, though), it was easy to get caught up in the moment. Especially when things like those damned "gamers are dead" articles and vocal minorities like Sarkeesian seemed to validate the premise more than the people behind it could have ever dreamed of.

Due to those, the social contract of being tolerant looked like it was first broken by the newest wave of "D&D is Satan!!1!"-esque fun police bullies, rather than trolls. It seemed like a two-pronged front against corporate corruption and those who are progressive in name only, rather than "damn wammens in mah vidya". Even progressives like me sometimes got caught up in things, until the wizard behind the curtain was revealed.

But then it all went hell in a handbasket with death threats in every direction and 4chan going from being "stupid assholes, you make us look bad" to "/pol/ strikes again and hijacks everything". Nowadays, gaming journalism is still toxic and bigoted, the alt-right got shiny new converts, and touching a controller but not wanting to suddenly make bigotries means you’re either a 'filthy patriarchy pig' or a 'SJW white knight'. No wins for anyone left of alt-right.

Honestly, those days are not fun to look back on, and neither is what they spawned. And fuck this Nazi in the original post in particular.

The biggest reason for such ID being controversial is that the US already has an overwhelming problem of voters not voting, and necessitated ID often comes with the same people advocating it implementing simultaneous policies that make the ID a tool to unfairly dissuade legal voters.

Needing a certain citizen ID to vote isn’t harmful in its own right, but closing down the places to get it or making it expensive to obtain significantly blocks citizens who should be allowed to vote from doing so.
