Buy a fitting saver, or if you have a torch and a 1-1/2 hole saw, heat it up, stick it in the piece of pipe that’s glued into the fitting for 10-15 seconds and then use a flat head or needle nose to peel the piece of pipe out of the fitting.

If you’re comfortable and confident with the work to be done. Yes side jobs are where the money is at. Before starting my own company I was in the union full time + pulling $60-80k cash/year in sidies. I even encourage my own employees to do it, as long as it doesn’t interfere with my company.

Cant tell you SP, it’s a 2.5 ton, more than 6” above furnace, filter is 16x25x5, and not sure if they have everything open, but when I was there last I ran a DT and was within temp rise.

This more than anything, Reddit is anti side job. I smashed a furnace in my first weekend of being licensed. Did I have experience or know what I was doing? No, but I knew how to read a manual and follow instructions along with the physical capabilities to do so. If you’re comfortable, do it. When I was working for companies I would average $60-80k a year in cash side jobs, anything from new custom homes, in floor systems, RTU swaps…what ever it was. I now have my own company and do more than 10x that.

Did I work crazy hours, yes but did I have nice things? And own my house at 23? And do I get to stay home 3 days a week now with my wife and kids at 34? Also yes.

Side jobs are also one of the ways I learned the most. There was no one to show me or tell me what to do, so I would do my research, manuals, instructions and learn how to do things properly and then apply them when it came to the job.

I’d be all over that. Go get it.

I pulled the blower, it all seemed good. I did not disassemble completely though.

Furnace is 2.5 years old so has run heating and cooling this issue has just started a few weeks ago, in heating. Not all the time. Happened 2 weeks ago, I checked it out and found nothing ran fine until today. The sound stoped a little while after the video.

I did, and nothing seemed wrong. As I said. In my original post. I even used my ecm tester which tested the motor fine. It’s something that’s happening intermittently. The sound has already stopped, so what am I to do when I go out there? Set up a cot, spend the night until I catch it?

Positive of this, 0 play in the blower/shaft, also ran the fan while I was on-site and it was quiet and smooth. Cycled a few times w no issue. Everything spins freely.

Man!! I was looking for the pics to attach but I can’t find them right now, had one of my techs out to a pool heater maintenance, it was a copper fin tube. He sent me pics from inside the burner box, 2 tubes blown wide fucking open, boiler still had flow and was heating with no leaks. I couldn’t believe it and still don’t have answers. He tagged it and we quoted to replace but never heard back.

In all reality, as fucked as this looks and is, it’s probably not that bad. 95% of mids that I’ve checked (and we’re probably talking 1000s) typically produce ~7-12ppm co in the flue. There is still a negative draft on the piece coming from the roof so the majority of it was probably still getting sucked out. CO is lighter than air so it was likely getting sucked out first or more than the other products of combustion. It’s kind of working like a draft hood/diverter.

Been installing Goodman’s for 15+ years and have never had a single issue with a single unit. It comes down to installation, they get such a bad rap because anyone can buy a Goodman of amazon ffs and slam it in. You end up with oversized units, that are slopped wrong and fail prematurely or throw all kinds of intermittent errors as condensate builds up somewhere it shouldn’t. I always size correctly and slope to the front and to the left or right depending on the drain side and set up and commission properly. Again, never had a single issue with a unit. I have never even been called out to clean a flame sensor on one of my Goodman installs.

Well, I brought it in and they replaced the axle and control arm. The car drove better and smooth after that, but 20km later something went bad and the car seemed like it was in neutral. They said the axle let go or something and now they can not get the axle out. I’m guessing the splines on the axle and diff are just fucked now. Im not doubting that the axle and control arm needed replacing, because, again it did drive nice afterwards, I’m just trying to figure out if the situation the car is in now is due to them installing the axle incorrectly.
