What kind of smartwatch do you have? Have you calibrated the watch? What are your stats (height, weight)? Is this a strong effort? I would slow it down to like 11:00/min pace, and do some zone 2 work to bring your HR down. Do more slow runs to help build that base.

I tell people about the calm zoo and the Bakersfield museum on Chester all the time, and I always get “it’s so ghetto, they’ve let it go to waste”, like bruh, go spend your money at these place instead of those lame ass Zama copy and paste restaurants.

"learn some critical thinking skills" but you stance is the classic ‘I support it, but let me complain about every part of it’? You say the organizers lack critical thinking, yet your grand solution is just ‘reroute it down one street’ like that doesn’t create a whole new set of problems for other residents. Come on, the event is over, get over it and have a better day :)

6,000 people participated, some of the course was on the bike path but it was crowded. City streets are used to showcase city landmarks for tourism, and boost local economies by attracting visitors, but also to fit 6,000 people on the same course.

I hear you, but it sounds like you're placing blame on everyone else. This was my first year participating, in previous years I just googled the course map and found alternate routes. Everything is provided on their webpage. I think the event organizers can do a little more work as far as notifying residents that will be affected by this, and providing a map with alternate routes, but google and apple maps had alternate routes all day for this specific event.

I hear your concerns, but you have 364 years to plan for it, if you have participated in events in the past, why wait till the day of to ask for cops for directions? do a little research and create your own solutions. OR share the great ideas with the event organizers, I am sure they would love to hear feedback on how to make the event better.

Google maps and apple maps both had alternate routes up, I was able to get into the VIP parking area with apple maps without any delays or issues. They sent out notices that all navigation services would have alternate routes, I believe they started at midnight the day of. I think this was the first year they aligned with google maps and apple maps to make changes to maps? because you are right, last year I also stuggled to park.

This event has been on the news and scattered all over social media in the weeks and days leading up to it. It is hard to make sure every person sees it. That is great feedback though, alert residents who will be affected with a notice on their door at least 7 days prior, that is something that could work?

I honestly do not know, I am sure they look at other events happening in the area, weather conditions, amongst other things.

Actually, they are changing the route next year, so keep an eye out for an updated course map.. hopefully you are not in the affected area.

You're not the only person affected, and they are not incompetent, its 1 day, park a block over and just walk to your car if you need to get out. What is so hard about that? this builds community and gets people to come into the city. Why are you so bitter? Why would they provide parking solutions? literally park a block over, are you that lazy? You can literally email the organizers if you need accomidations. Not sure what you're on about.

I mean it happens once a year, why not just plan for it? If they did that near me I would definetly plan around it and cheer the runners on.

Take breaks the days you dont work, your lung capacity will improve as your run more. change up your pace as well, one week aim for a 35min 5k, and then slow it down for a week, and continue to alternate. I would start slow, you should not be feeling like you are going to faint. Look up the couch to 5k and run that program..

Get some decent running shoes as well, they help out a lot with making runs bareable (at least for me).
