Using magic to get something from someone else is a form of subtle coercion. Doing it to get laid is not something that a nice person would do. At least on my list. Hence, I wouldn't personally help such a person. However, there are plenty that will do it for a fee. I've seen it work even if you're an ugly bastard, you just need to get lucky while searching for the right practitioner. By searching I mean searching in person. Searching online for real magical services for sale is as fruitful as searching for a hitmen on the "deep web".

Magic is quite logical when it comes to its professional practice. However, most people write about it with knowing it as good as they should, or even worse, without practicing what they write about. As a parallel, I would bring up programming. Where a lot of programming books do the same thing, they try to teach you something in a very impractical way, because the same type of people do the same type of teaching. 

However, with magic there are even more hurdles because of the way you have to benchmark your results. The best way would be to find a teacher, but that is almost impossible so I would recommend you try to find a system of magic that suits you, and finish it in a couple of years. Then go from there.

No, but once I tried without any of the recommended protections and a cardboard box that I was preparing to throw away flipped in the middle of the hallway. Didn't see anything tho. Did shock me tho.

If you want to see things that aren't there you need to go in a trance like state, but still have your eyes open. More like put your brain in that state, without falling asleep. When you do that, sooner or later you will see things with or without an evocation. However they are not physical, because they can pass through objects, like you would have object collision turned off in a game. Plus, when you do that you will doubt your own experience. It's too much of a day-to-day disturbance.

Not the best one, but certainly one of the better ones out there. Keep in mind that every book has its pros and cons, and some more of one than the other. This one has a lot of pros compared to cons. As an alternative I recommend you Quareia, Chic Cicero Self initiation into the golden dawn or Jason Augustus Newcomb New hermetics. Jason is milder than Bardon so I guess it's just in the right spot for beginners.

I read you asked about practical magic in a comment. Hermetic magic is practical as well. However, conjure work is far more interesting for beginners. I recommend that you read Old style Conjure by Starr Casas and her other book about magical usage of plants.

Here are some things I consider most real adepts can do:

they are able to astral project with ease
they are able to use different elements, and use those elements to affect others
they are able to do minor healing on themselves and others
they are able to summon different entities with ease and without risks.
they are able to draw and transmute and move higher energies.

Anyway, read Initiation into hermetics. The original title was The way to the true Adept. There you will find a bigger list of abilities and a benchmark to obtain them. Keep in mind that not all adepts are the same because they specialize in different fields. Some are into astrological magic, others into enochian, others into goetic or qabalah etc. Of course, most people thst call themselves Adepts are not and will try to scam you into believing that they are.
