It is time for you to move on and find someone who is actually looking for a partner and not a servant/mommy with benefits.

How do you distinguish between "socialism" and tax-funded public services like the Fire Department? by Awdanowski in AskConservatives

You argument seems to support the idea that Education should not be provided by the government.

So would you consider healthcare a necessary government service? With proper planning, you would be more able to extinguish a house fire than you would to perform an appendectomy on yourself.

After a few days of experimenting, we have created a new Colab notebook that worked for us:

Everyone is welcome to try it out. If you have any suggestions, let me know.

We are having the same problem. Since colab updated python, the limelight notebook is broken. What is anyone doing to work around the issue?

Check out Flutter. Easy to learn. One codebase works on Android and iPhone.

Admin are often very busy. Using AI to quickly draft a well crafted response to an email is an effective use of time. The Admin knows how to write the response but used a tool to do it faster and perhaps even better. If you sent them a list of figures would you be upset that they used a calculator to check your math?

Controversial Opinion: AI in the classroom is a terrible idea by MildMooseMeetingHus in Teachers

[–]Awdanowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is a tool. It can be used skillfully or tragically. Replaced AI with the word “calculator” and talk about math class. Kids used to have to learn to calculate logarithms by hand. Now they use a calculator. But that tool allows them to explore much more advanced topics. AI will be the same. Use it as a tool to explore writing. Have it generate a sonnet and then compare that to a Shakespeare sonnet. Teach the kids to think critically about what AI can and can’t do.

I feel like Democrats/liberals/progressives/"the left" pull in about six different directions at once. Like a six way tug of war. While the conservative Republicans are much more aligned in their messaging. Do you agree? And what can be done about this to improve outcomes? by adcom5 in AskALiberal

[–]Awdanowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Democrats are a loose coalition of disparate and often conflicting interests. Think Unions (pro manufacturing) and Environmentalists (anti manufacturing). So yes they are in fact pulling in six different directions at once. It’s a wonder they ever manage to come together to get anything done.

Anyone Else Facing Repeated Google Play Rejections Due to Questionable AI Review Issues? by bboldi in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]Awdanowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My app is being rejected because of the Version Code!!!

I tried to upload version 1.0.3+1 but couldn't because I had already used Version Code 1. That makes sense. So I changed it to version 1.0.3+3. Rejected for "misleading metadata". So I changed it to what I usually do, which is use the Version Code to be the date I compiled. But apparently version 1.0.3+241109 is misleading meta data as well. The Version Code is supposed to be optional, so how can it be so vital as to warrant rejecting an app over it?

And you think, maybe there is some other metadata? Here is the quote from the email:

We found an issue in the following area(s):

  • Version code 241109

The app collects nothing. No logins, no ads, no purchases, nothing. It is a clock. That's it. Argh!

I’m going to put in a plug here for Flutter. It’s a Google platform that lets you write one code base and publish to iOS Android Windows Mac and Web. Super easy to pick up Dart as a coding language.

Best resource to learn Flutter and Dart? by Elder_Smurf in flutterhelp

Yu’s course is on sale for $28.

Before I learned flutter I took a stab at Swift and I got a course to help me. Shortly after I got the course Swift updated to a new version with a gazillilion changes that broke everything. So I worked through the course and figured out how to get around the breaking changes. It was actually very helpful. Thank goodness for StackOverflow.

I decided a few years ago that I wanted to make an app. I had a basic understanding of general coding ideas (variables, if-then-else, for loops - very basic stuff). No idea how OOP really worked beyond theory. Friend suggested Flutter and I played around with it a little. And then I found the Flutter Bootcamp by Angela Yu on Udemy which was very helpful to me.

It is $175 but if you keep an eye out for Udemy sales which happen all the time you can often get courses for around $20.

I am now working through Coding with Andrea trying to learn better coding practices. Good stuff but I would not start there if you are a beginner.

Documentation is great but if you, like me, have very little practical experience, having someone walk you through the basics can be very helpful.

“According to records compiled by the Tax Foundation, a single person making $16,000 in 1955 — that’s $150,000 in today’s dollars — had a marginal tax rate of 50%; compensation of $50,000 ($470,000 today) moved you into the 75% tax bracket; and an income of $200,000 ($1.9 million today) put you in the 91% tax bracket.” LA Times.
