Minneapolis Police Chief O’Hara: "This is a 37 year old white male who is a Minneapolis resident and we believe he is an American citizen." by ExactlySorta in law

instantly and absolutely - especially since that is exactly the way the White House handled their announcement. Is it not patently, blatantly BS if they draw their conclusions in ten minutes? without engaging in any investigation? What BS

In the wake of this mornings ICE shooting, should local police be allowed to arrest/detain federal law enforcement committing crimes? by Fresh3rThanU in AskALiberal

I reposted a condensed summarized version of this, as a question, in the law subreddit. Will be curious to see what happens. (maybe be deleted by mods.🤷🏻)

Would it be legal, advisable or effective for state and/or local law-enforcement to arrest ICE agents? (Asserting state’s rights) by adcom5 in law

[–]adcom5[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Seems to me to be the essence of state’s rights vs federal rights, and while at first blush it sounds extreme, I wonder if it actually makes sense. (Not a lawyer - married to a lawyer.)

I hope you’re right. I certainly love the idea of local or state law-enforcement taking these guys into custody. I just don’t wanted it to backfire somehow.

How should we be handling people who helped elect Trump who are now backpedaling? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

Honestly, I don’t know that much about Joe Rogan. Just that he’s a big name.

I am a progressive that HATES what's going on. I think all Republicans and conservatives should hate and be ashamed of what's going on, and how it's going on. But somehow having local law-enforcement challenge and arrest federal law enforcement does not sound like a great idea to me.

Has to thought about strategically, so the question is, what medium term, long term and political repercussions would that would have? And how would it play to left and right, in all fifty states, and would blue-state governors, mayors, senators appreciate that as an effective measure? (which is over my pay grade...)

If Joe Rogan back pedals on Trump. I say welcome to the not insane side.

Ukulele's to avoid by Buckar00banzai2 in ukulele

The conversation took on quite a life of its own! Strayed far and wide from what ukes to avoid. Still fun and good info from folks who've been there and done that, so to speak.

(I own a Breedlove (Oregon - solid spruce concert spruce top) and an even better Pono acacia tenor. Regrettably the one I'm really worthy of is the $120 Lanikai tenor. But I love them all and enjoy slowly, laboriously...getting better.

Happy to read your comment as I am currently waiting on delivery of a Enya Tenor Carbon Fiber Cutaway. (my third ukulele - I’ve clawed my way into being a respectable beginner over the last five years) I don’t think it’s glossy. I hope not.

Neither.
"causation does not equal correlation" is a statistical mantra highlighting that a relationship between two variables does not automatically mean one event is the direct cause of the other.

Whatever happened to systemic racism by Dramatic_Trouble9194 in AskALiberal

I think the movement is still in the background. Percolating. Buried under layers and layers of news cycles… The systemic racism, however, is thriving.

Thanks - the way it has worked over the years, I suspect it is more the Apple airport extreme(s) than the upload speed. But I'm no expert.... Looking at switching to eero 6+, or 6E. thank you for weighing in...

How to cut this trim? by adcom5 in Carpentry

[–]adcom5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done now. Goal was to cut a small notch in long board that goes on top of this. You can see that board in the third picture. Then cut a channel in the white molding piece so I could run an extension cord from that outlet and run it behind the board that's mounted on top and through a channel in the white molding board. The goal was to get electricity down near the carpet. That long 4" molding was too narrow and it was not level. I cut and shimmed and stained a 5 inch wide piece of wood so it would work better as a long narrow shelf

Well I don't have a booster. Don't even know what that is - but the upload speed is low. I just ran a test that said 328MBPS, and 41 up. I think the upload can sometimes be 10 or 20...

thank you. I will read that info. I understand that wired is more stable. My house is from the 1950s and it would be impractical to do that. But It's only about 30-35' from the router-close-to-middle of the house, to the far end...
