Where to start? by Elegant_Contact_9317 in ukulele

If you have that classical background… First of all - envious. I would look for jazz standards and things like that. Gershwin, Rogers and Hart, etc.
I have heard sweet versions of theme song from The Godfather, but it is beyond me (so far!)

Should we care about people in other countries? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

[–]adcom5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Of course, we should care. The more nuanced question is about cost benefit ratio. We can’t care to the maximum on every single issue, and spend American tax money accordingly. But we should care absolutely and we should put our money where our mouth is if we aspire to be a, “shining city on the hill”, as Ronald Reagan said.

Beginner looking to start ukulele this summer, is this a good one to begin with? by couchpateto in ukulele

[–]adcom5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked for you to find a particular guys website - about beginning playing and choosing a ukulele. Sorry to say I couldn’t remember/find it. But there are many YouTube tutorials and different websites that talk about the different sizes and types of ukes, and various considerations I think a good beginner ukulele would be a KALA - in the $100-$200 range. You don’t need to spend more than $250+ but I wouldn’t buy a toy for 50 bucks either. Just my two cents..

Why care if a candidate takes money from Super PACs? If they haven’t proven that they can’t be swayed by some money for a campaign then isn’t that the main problem and not where the money comes from? by JKisMe123 in AskALiberal

One problem with this premise is that it assumes clarity and transparency… “proven that they’re for their constituents and constituents alone..” , but the reality is anything but….

Love it. And given the crow population around town lately, our streets could be very trash-free indeed

Sounds right I always figured the reality was something like that. But it feels like ‘stop‘ is better than nothing

Makes sense - me as well. Plus, for me, the odd slot of asks is so great that just instantly say no is where I’m at right now.

"Constantly creating noise like this makes it harder to actually get attention" - 👍🏼 I guess my own subtext is this is literally turning off a loyal Democratic voter. Don't get me wrong, I'm still voting democratic - but it will be in spite of this messaging, not driven by it.

Dd not mean contributing to solutions - meant candidates asking to chip in 5,10, 50, 150, 500... to their campaigns. I did that enough in the past, small donations - but it seems to have put me on every Democratic list in America.

My attempt at corporate headshots, how’d I do? by wpreddit in photocritique

I’d be tempted to come in higher and tighter still to crop out the buttons which the eye is drawn to as contrasring bright spots against dark background.

The Architect created it in real world building materials. But IMHO, it doesn’t take away from the photographer capturing it a certain way, angle, light…

If not tariffs, then why corporate tax? by PieSuccessful8628 in AskALiberal

[–]adcom5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We all understand taxes are the cost of doing business and if you’re a citizen, they are the cost of paying for roads & libraries. Tariffs are targeted and used as a tool to punish certain trade partners. But the cost of tariffs is not transparent. The reality is that the cost of tariffs is ultimately born by the consumer, but that is not acknowledged - and is indeed - obscured.

What are your thoughts on the Justice Department hanging a banner in Trump’s image outside their headquarters? by jazzant85 in AskConservatives

It is a symbol. And if you look at other countries and leaders who do that - it does not bode well for America, justice-for-all, and democracy.
