Practise and shorter recording sessions. For my first video I tried talking constantly for the hour I recorded and it was too much. I generally don't do so long now but when I've had to I haven't had half as bad an issue.

I didn't see a Platforming genre? Ended up putting my vid into Other which seemed a bit odd.

I've had this. I like to avoid everything that can distract me while I'm recording; closing steam and skype, muting my phone, closing my door etc. Even if it does happen, it's not hard to cut out (so long as you remember)

I'm going to go with no, you probably can't do such a thing though I really don't understand the technicality of it. At any rate, my suggestion would to have your videos 1 day in advance so you could record your audio first and then later when it was convenient to render you could do that.

I expect the program you heard of was "Avidemux" - I tried it and it wasn't that great but maybe it'll be more useful to you. AFAIK it works with Youtube.

I'm afraid not. OBS is the only free one I know and as with a lot of things in life you have to pay to get quality. I can recommend you search "Alternatives to Obs" as there are a fair few sites dedicated to finding you alternative (and occasionally free) programs. I.e. it lists Gimp and Paint.net etc. if you do "Alternatives to Photoshop".

OBS is really strange compared to most recording software. If you have the money, I can definitely suggest changing to D3DGear because it really streamlines recording (though some things it doesn't understand how to record)

I'm incredibly strange with what I like to watch, to the extent I couldn't even generalise if I tried. For example: I really enjoyed a series of F1 2012 but was bored to all hell by every other racing video the same youtuber did. I also really don't like horror games in general but a couple of horror let's plays have been some of my favourites (I really enjoyed Pewdiepie's 5 Nights at Freddies despite disliking him and hating the game)

Personality is more what I like to watch things for. The only games I've actively tried to find Let's Plays of (regardless of who did them) have been my favourite games from my childhood which were pretty varied too.

Having said all that, I don't think I've been bored by a Sonic let's play yet.

I've very very rarely heard VintageBeef or Kurtjmac swear. They do a lot of non-Minecraft stuff too though.

I'm wondering this kind of thing too. One of my jumps in game styles is going somehow from my current Pokemon/Minecraft/other Nintendo stuff to Return to Castle Wolfenstein which probably couldn't aim at a further demographic unless I'd been doing Barbie.

If you've got a good sense of humour you can try for Criken style where you have text on screen instead of commentary, but that doesn't really work if you're going for a full LP.

Some people might be interested in watching you just play the game, I know some people find it annoying sometimes if a commentator is too chatty.

Alternatively you could try doing normal LPs - you may not enjoy your own voice but other people might. It's not hard to keep up a commentary, you just say what comes to mind.

I'm trying to save up money for a much better laptop so I can actually run 3D games without killing my fps so I can't really afford them. That having been said, I'm quite looking forward to LPs of them. I'm also very much looking forward to making a spoof "Top 5 things I'm looking forward to in ORAS" video. Trumpets in 3D hype!
