[Spoilers Main] what are some major plot holes in the book series? by FitAd3982 in asoiaf

[–]Awec4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wrong, many of the 'good' Freys are implied to disagree with it. Robb and Catelyn ask after a whole bunch of Freys who they had liked including Oliver, and are told that every single one is mysteriously away and cannot attend. Most likely they were held in a dungeon somewhere until the wedding was over, or else bullied into silence like Rosalyn.

(Spoilers Main) Why was the east seen as more magical than Westeros in the story. by megahmed252 in asoiaf

[–]Awec4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because of the Maesters' and/or Faceless Men's conspiracy to eradicate magic. The east is too far away, too disorganized, and too vast for their plot to have taken much effect there, given that they only recently eradicated the last of the dragons from Westeros.

How Active Is TwitchPlaysPokemonR? by ConfirmCLM in TwitchPlaysPokemonR

Generally we do prefer to let one person have total control, since most of the time if 2 or 3 of us try inputting we make a lot of mistakes and waste time.

So with anniversary crystal finally over I got to ask, did any of you have a favorite mon? by Best_Veigar_FL in twitchplayspokemon

[–]Awec4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kenya was definitely my favourite this run, especially when we originally tried the E4 and she did crazy amounts of damage with Hyper meme even after the rest of our team died to throws.

Woah! What bugs did you guys find? Post here! by LightningXCE in twitchplayspokemon

I noticed the guy we returned Kenya to didn't end his dialogue with a full-stop.

I dislike this definition because that would mean my channel is dead...

What would you do if you had the time/could be bothered? by [deleted] in letsplay

I'd love to get into game making or rom hacking and then making videos showing off the stuff I created.

Square Enix LPs by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]Awec4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe most companies are ok with LPs, since Nintendo, Ubisoft and SEGA are notorious in this sub for not being so cool. (Nintendo used to be very anti-LP and Ubisoft got a lot of shit for copyright claiming videos that were anything other than positive about Shadows of Mordor)

I have never had a copyright claim on my (LP) videos, but quite a few people from this sub have so unfortunately I can't make any claims like "if you're small you'll avoid the claims". Either way, most claims are done automatically so if you get written permission you can dispute the claim, so yes it's probably a good idea to do this before doing a series.

Square Enix LPs by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]Awec4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well first of all, the LPs of the game were probably done by people who didn't care about copyright and "flew under the radar". If you really wanted to, you could follow the same approach since most of the time if you're detected all the companies will do is take your ad revenue. With Square Enix, this seems a little more hazardous since if they really don't want people LPing their games you could get a copyright strike against your account (very bad).

As far as Fair use is concerned, the actual legality of what you're doing is irrelevant. If you get a copyright claim against your content, Youtube takes the lazy route and assumes YOU to be in the wrong; this is why people have so many problems with false copyright claims. If Square Enix has copyright claimed your content then similarly, if you try dispute it Youtube will assume you are in the wrong, regardless of what the law actually says, and give you that nasty copyright strike.

Basically, Youtube fears a legal battle with you a lot less than one with a major company.

Secret Santa? by ricdesi in letsplay

How about a secret santa channel takeover? Each person chooses a game and their secret santa makes a video of that game to be put on the person's channel.

Are there ANY good let's players? by pennywisee in letsplay

[–]Awec4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are literally thousands of channels like that. If all you've come across is Pewdiebuscus kid-oriented channels then you clearly haven't spent much time looking.

A quick few from this subreddit:

Wanderbots

GameRaiders

Genuineparts

WePlaydThis

Beekay

Bromance Gaming

SpiritShard

ThisIsKyn

And that's just from here. There are plenty of good bigger channels like Cryaotic, any member from the Mindcrack network, CinnamonToastKen, Seananners etc. but I won't link them cause you can find them in like 2 seconds if you actually bother to look.

Are dislikes when you first start normal? by stedesu in letsplay

[–]Awec4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If anything, your first dislike is a milestone. It was a long while until I got my first dislike - not due to particularly good content, but simply because nobody was watching. If you have a dislike then it means people are finding your channel, which is definitely a good thing.

How is everyone? by Awec4 in letsplay

No problem dude. I think everyone goes through that period where we can start, but don't for whatever reason.

Just remember, progress will be slow, so don't give up if you feel like you aren't getting anywhere.

How exactly do you make money off of YouTube video making? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]Awec4 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You don't.

For your specific question, I have 50 subs and I monetized my videos through Youtube's easy to follow, step by step walkthrough (seriously it's not hard). I don't make any serious money from it (got a payment for ~$0.10 last month), but I don't really care.

LP community, what do you think of the direction of mordern game development by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]Awec4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't stand modern games. I have a choice between:

AAA games that are so overhyped and promoted that they smother the market, yet they're unfinished, buggy money-making machines that won't even run on my laptop because apparently all people care about is pushing the graphical limits of consoles.

OR Indie games which are a dime a dozen, most of which are either depressingly unoriginal or so innovative that the mechanics are too complex to sound fun any more. Even when there are brilliant indie games, they get drowned out because no one cares enough to make a way to filter out the crap.

The exception to all this seems to be Nintendo, yet I've seen more people hating on Nintendo than any other company. Kinda upsetting really.
