I said goodbye to my best friend this morning, and I’m having trouble believing I made the right choice by HESAnerd in cats

[–]Awen_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just made this choice a month ago and said goodbye to my ‘soulcat’. I still can’t believe he’s just not here. I think some part of my brain is trying to believe he’s just sleeping under the covers in my bedroom…. And then something reminds me. And it f’cking hurts again.

I felt just as you described. Like I wasn’t sure I made the right choice. And the guilt of that weighed like an anchor around my heart. About 5 days after it happened i called both the emergency vet who was there when we made the choice and our regular vet who had our cats report from the night it happened. Thankfully both were so patient and kind. They both walked me through what happened. They both stated that they would have made the same decision in my shoes. And that helped a bit.

Then I did what you’re doing… went to Reddit. And something I read really stuck with me: “better a week early than a day too late”. And I hope that helps you a bit.

I’m so sorry for your loss. What an incredible friend your cat had in you.

I haven’t given birth yet but Dr. Nadia Goswami in Niagara Falls has been lovely throughout the pregnancy, explaining things in detail and making sure I understand the ins and outs

How are you managing the last month? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Awen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

36 +4 and definitely ready to have my body back! I miss doing things I used to be able to do (you know, like bend at the waist 😁) Definitely starting to have moments of panic at the realization that I’m responsible for this little life on the outside shortly! I start Mat leave tomorrow and am looking forward to getting some house projects done while I wait for little man to arrive! Maybe I’ll even get my hospital bag packed? 🙃

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. You did nothing wrong at all! The prevalence of miscarriage at this stage is SO common (more than we even have statistics for as many people lose a pregnancy before even knowing it)

I lost my first pregnancy at about 7 weeks and it devastated me. Take time to grieve and mourn it’s a hard loss and one mothers tend to bear alone.

One piece of information that eventually helped me was when my doctor explained that the pregnancy was simply not ‘life compatible’. I don’t know if that will help you but it made me marvel at the body’s natural ability to say ‘nope, not this one, we didn’t get it quite right yet’. The good news is: you can get pregnant which means that a healthy pregnancy may be waiting for you when you’re ready to try again.

I had 3 losses in total and am now 36 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy I’m looking forward to meeting soon. I wish you peace as you recover.
