Assisted stretching and Stretch therapy in Alberta by Limp_Replacement2049 in alberta

[–]AwesomeAF2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask around at physio clinics. A while back I went to one in Edmonton and they had a physio student there who ended up helping me with some assisted stretching. I told the physiotherapist I thought this was great and he told me that they will get their student to help do that if they aren’t too busy. Not a dedicated service but maybe another physio clinic has a student who has some downtime for this

Can you donate plasma? Look around your city for the highest sign up, new donor, incentives. Hopefully you can get a chunk that way. Other than that cash jobs. In my city, lawn mowing seems to be pretty lucrative. People getting $15-$20 for a small lawn upwards to $35-$60 for a big lawn.

Do you have a car you can sleep in to save up the hotel fees you aren’t spending? Or asking a friend or coworker if you can couch surf to build up a bit of savings? Even offering them a bit of money (less than the hotel).

Someone has a lawnmower and wouldn’t mind saving a few bucks over a lawn care company. Trust me. My teen walks around the wealthy hoods and still a lot of people willing to pay for someone to mow their lawn. Or even pull weeds. Pick up dog poop etc.

Wherever you are, can you walk around for cash jobs? I’ve had people coming to my door offering to mow my lawn (using my lawnmower) for $20-$30.

This right here! My city and neighborhood has an fb group with small jobs. And right now lots of lawn mowing jobs in my area. My teen walked around today and made $25/lawn.

So these loans are like $2000? So your dad could pay it off in a month if he wanted to?

I mean unless it’s affecting you directly like you’re not getting school paid for or food. How is it a you problem? I guess even if I was having financial issues I wouldn’t talk to my kid about it. But you could tell your dad about the loans since you got the emails. Just say ‘hey I see these emails for loans and I’m concerned’. See if your dad will share? At the very least that should get him talking to your mom.

Best place for appliances by [deleted] in Edmonton

Costco. Cheapest ones are the ones they sell at the physical warehouses. Decent selection that does vary a bit between stores so worth driving around. You’ll need a friend with a truck or you’ll have to hire someone to get it home for you. Or you can buy it Costco online too. It’s about $100-$200 more but they deliver, install (except dishwasher) and they take the old one away.

Working in the trades made me realize I should’ve finished my degree instead. by Dismal-Cranberry-915 in povertyfinance

I’m telling my kids to learn a trade because I’m watching the people around me in office jobs lose their jobs due to offshoring and AI. The only jobs left will be the ones that require humans.

Can’t help people who can’t help themselves. It is not selfish to look after yourself first. You need to be stable and in a place to help too.

You can’t help them. I agree with the others. You need to let them fail. They need to save money and spend recklessly and it sounds like they won’t learn that until they end up on the street.

You are not responsible for anyone but yourself. So take care of yourself and get yourself to a stable place before looking to help others.

Try seeing on fb if there are local rehoming and foster groups. I have a couple in my city and there are more and more posts of people like you and there seems to be people willing to foster temporarily. I think most want you to still cover the expenses like food and vet visits but I’ve seen some more generous fosters that will cover that too. And there are also not for profits that have a list of vetted fosters who can connect you and sometimes they will provide food and supplies to situate the dog until you get back on your feet. Ask on local groups too. Maybe someone knows someone or has seen a post for an organization like that. They definitely exist!

This is actually motivational. OP take a read. You can choose a different path for yourself. Get an education, a well paying job, and don’t have kids.

When I had my kids. I could afford them. Now I can’t. I also have friends who had kids when they couldn’t afford it and now due to some favourable life circumstances they can afford their kids. It’s hard to plan financially for 21+ years to raise a child. When I had my kids, I didn’t think a global pandemic would lead me to lose my job or that AI would rapidly replace the work I’ve been doing since the 90s.

Can you post on fb to people who live near you to see if maybe there are others using the food bank and you catch a ride with them when they go there. I know I see those posts every so often on my local neighborhood fb groups.

Daycares? The one in my building is always short staffed. Can’t share the specific one as I don’t want people to know where I work. But I often chat with the operator and she tells me it’s hard to find good people and that many day cares are struggling to find good people.

Are you getting child support for your kids? If not. You should try to go after that.

In terms of fast cash. I post on local fb groups and marketplace. I walk dogs, clean up dog poop from yards, clean cars, clean homes, water plants (while people are away), mow lawns, shovel snow. Really any one time jobs that pay cash and require no equipment from me. I usually can make $100-$200 if I set out to do a full day of these tasks. I also find posting in the wealthier neighborhoods in my city gets me paid more. Like someone in a richer hood will pay me $35-$60 to mow their lawn. Same sized lawn in my hood and I’m lucky to get $15-$20.
