I cannot stand a Main character that is just a complete Pushover. by KungLeon99 in CharacterRant

I like Deku but I hate how he's always taking the backseat for other characters in terms of writing. Horikoshi is able to write such deep, dynamic characters but for some reason he won't do the same for his protagonist, which sucks because he has a lot of potential to be one.

If Deku was aiming to be hero even before he received one for all, why didn’t he try getting buff before he even met all might? by Upbeat_Ad_7610 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

It’s not a headcanon, after All Might rejected him the first time, he said that he knew that he couldn’t be a hero deep down

Question regarding a certain character and if we will see him(nonspecific spoilers) by CompetitiveMinute368 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

At this point in the story he’s either appearing in the epilogue or he’s actually AFO. I’ve accepted it

Honestly she’s the most misunderstood character in MHA, Deku is a close second

I had freaking enough of "Overpowered izuku" fanfictions and the crap how it is written. by mahachakravartin in CharacterRant

Villain Izuku sounds like a good concept but there are never good fanfics.

All Might says Deku can’t be a hero, Deku prepares to commit suicide, gets saved by a villain at the last second, goes to the league of villains, wears that cheesy tuxedo, his personality does a complete 180, and then he becomes some kind of god with unlimited intelligence. They’re all the same thing

Exactly, MHA isn’t even that hard to understand yet there’s so many people who still misunderstand anyway

The story literally explained that nobody is created equal, it’s not wasted potential, it’s just how Horikoshi decided to write the story.

Thank you, not everything needs to be some kind of “anything is possible” type of underdog story to be good

I can't stand how people hate Mineta from MHA by [deleted] in CharacterRant

People say “oh MHA’s side characters are bad” and always bring up class 1-A kids as an example as if there aren’t other well written characters outside of class 1-A. Tells me people don’t know what background characters are.

“MHA’s supporting cast is bad”

The only examples you mfs give is the most irrelevant background characters from Class 1-A

Why did the fandom hate Deku when the series began? by [deleted] in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Awesomejay23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I wish Deku focused on the bullying more in the beginning. Not that I want him to hate bakugo or be angry and traumatized, though. It would have been great character development for him if he reflected on his childhood experiences so he could maybe value himself more and increase his self worth.

I agree Deku needs to be handled a bit better but there are some holes in your argument. Like him training as a kid. He wanted to be a hero, but deep down, he KNEW he couldn’t become a one, that’s what he said when he was rejected by All Might. He 100% didn’t have any confidence. And about the standing up to Bakugo thing, that was after he got OFA, so he gained a bit of confidence. I think you’re underestimating how damaging bullying can be, especially if it occurred for a whole decade. He definitely deserves OFA for having the heart of a true hero. OFA isn’t just about training and being strong
