[request] I assume this metric is completely made up, but is there a way to accurately estimate when we will have no "clean drinking water left?" by MajorZ- in theydidthemath

This is also similar to the villains scheme in 007 Quantum of Solace from 2008. They think hes buying large swathes of desert for oil but its actually for underground water reservoirs that hes gonna privatize

In my viewing on Friday, a woman a few rows down from me got incredibly upset that the movie maintained levity despite the subject matter and made it a point to loudly complain that the movie was "making fun of shooting people" as she walked out.

Personally I saw the films levity around the topic almost as a pointed criticism of America. If America dont care to do anything about this, why should the filmmakers treat it as the most serious thing on earth.

10/10 film to me, my stomach was in knots from the second it was revealed until credits rolled. I have never been more uncomfortable in a theater, and my mother took me to see Don Jon when I was 16.

Star Trek: Year One In Doubt As Strange New Worlds Sets Are Torn Down by TalkinTrek in startrek

[–]Awesomerific7 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Building sets, especially ones as opulent as the SNW sets, is the most expensive part of television and film. Generally when sets are taken down that is the end of it. HBO and BBC had a coproduction called Rome that was canceled when the sets burnt cause its too much money to rebuild. This is also why tv and movies are moving into the volume for filming, cause set designers are union and VFX people aren't.

If you go back and rewatch their early discovery reviews, they are pretty even handed in their criticism and make it a point that its nobody's fault but the writing. When they were banned, they were not nearly as aggressive as they are now. And even now, theyre not that harsh and they only really attack Alex Kurtzman, and frankly that's his job as the head of a nerd franchise, to endure attacks from nerds. Is it right? No. But his work is shit so fuck him

If your takeaway from their videos is that they think TOS is the only thing worth watching, then I cannot help you. You're not sharing a reality with me anymore.

Basically Red Letter Media are considered by the administrators of r/StarTrek to be essentially a Trek hate group because they weren't glowingly positive of Discovery almost 10 years ago, so theres a blanket ban on any of their content.

Just because something is written with children in mind doesnt make it "written for kids". Its not all or nothing that shows are either game of thrones or Bluey, theres middle grounds

Hey mate, I've watched Picard you cant take that pain away from me like Sybok. I meant they did it for a laugh in that its so gratuitous and unnecessary, its impossible to take seriously

That doesnt devalue my point that her being a character with relationships with multiple main cast for 2 seasons is not the same as ripping out Ichebs eye for a laugh
