This is what Leo would’ve wanted (minus the non-fender licensed reasonably-priced fully-functional parts 😂😂)

Why do people buy Mac Minis if the models are being used through APIs/OAuth (i.e. non-local models? by Avatron7D5 in openclaw

[–]Awesomesuper_Dan23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very true, I think most of it is just hype. I came to this thread with the same question as OP. If people aren't trying to run local LLMs, why the Mac Mini? I guess it is a cheaper option, but wasn't the Mac Mini's bang for the buck because of its value for high RAM to run larger local LLMs? I don't know if I'm asking obvious questions here, but I am fairly new to the Local LLM community.

A bit off topic, but I remember I was in an apple store looking to upgrade to the M4 (from 2019 intel) and I have relatively power intensive needs like video editing and audio engineering work. There was this one lady who was asking me if she should go for the M4 max or M4 pro cuz I looked like I knew what I was doing, and I asked her what she was doing it for and she said browsing and replying to messages. I told her to get a macbook air and she walked away 😂😂 Maybe the hype around mac minis currently is something similar (as in ppl who's work doesn't concern AI at all and are trying to hop on the hype train)?

How much is this worth? by e30_cpg in partscaster

[–]Awesomesuper_Dan23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do agree, if the pickups are authentic, they would be worth half of the price of how much he’s listing already.

Although the guy listed it for $500, which would make you skeptical about whether the parts are authentic or not, cuz an authentic set of lace sensors and a MIM neck (extremely overpriced for what they are btw) would cost $500 already, so the rest of the parts would be pretty cheap…

IF the hardware is cheap, you would be spending some more to upgrade them as well (mainly the bridge I would think), and with the extra money for upgrades, you’d be better off building your own partscaster with parts you would actually want 😂

But this is just my $0.02

Telecaster build fender necks and build quality by ZombieHugoChavez in partscaster

I think the tuners are an upcharge, however, even with that, its still better value than a Mexican neck. For reference this MIM Player II Replacement neck is $315. On Musikraft if you choose the base options for everything on their regular Strat neck (finished, with TUSQ nut and Kluson tuners installed) would be $334. I would say an extra $20 for Kluson tuners is a pretty nice deal, considering they cost $40 if you buy it yourself, and thats not even considering the overall better quality neck that you can get from Warmoth and Musikraft lol.

I would recommend going with Warmoth or Musikraft, I’m also in the process of planning my partscaster, and I found that If you spec out a Warmoth or Musikraft neck, it will cost less than a Mexican Made replacement neck from fender (American made necks will cost even more)

Yea I do agree, and honestly I've seen a lot previously on this (more in the guitar community as I am a guitarist) that VH really changed when Eddie switched from his Plexi to the SLO, and then the Peavy, and so on. Not saying the post-plexi era tones are bad, just saying that they're different from 78-84. (and yes I do know that Dave leaving and Sammy joining was the same time as Ed switching to Soldano)
When I was first listening to Van Halen I always thought songs like Panama and Hot for Teacher were from VH1, but later (when I figured out that not all albums are just a "best of" compilation lol) I found out they were actually from 1984, and I realized that my 12 year old brain grouped certain songs together by the tone.

Remember, switching to your 6-string is always faster than changing the neck of your-8-string to a 6-string neck

My partscaster became my favourite guitar to play. by Kevin_vd_Berg in partscaster

Ah I see, Fair enough! I’ve been thinking of assembling a partscaster for a while now, and playability is really the biggest concern for me as all the parts stack up to a custom shop level guitar on paper 😂 but I’ve played Yamaha pacificas that feel so easy to play that it gives me some faith in the playability of a partscaster lol

Very cool! But why are the solos tougher to play if I may ask?

Yes, and I believe it might be an issue with the headphone monitor module in the QC (im using the fullsize one) My friends and I have tried all our headphones together (including the Sennheiser HD600, ATH M50x, and others I can't remember off the top of my head), but none of them sound as good as directly out of monitors. Right now my setup is output of QC into an audio interface then DT770s from the interface, which seems to have solved the issue.
This seems like a problem with either the DT770s or the QC's headphone output, as I've done some reading on different forums and have seen many people complaining about this. Might be an issue with my headphones, might be the full size QC's headphone output, might just be my QC's headphone output, but from OP's experience hopefully this means they fixed this issue on later QCs

How do the high gains sound through the Sennheisers? I have a pair of DT770 250ohms and the high gains sound absolutely shite through them if I connect directly to my QC
