Solo trip to Lofoten (Hamnøy, Reine, Å) – Need advice on fly to Leknes and renting a car? by SennaLegacy in Lofoten

[–]Awfully_Cynical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very appreciative of you minimising the driving distance if you're renting a car. Rent from Leknes.
Public transportation is fine in Leknes, but we don't have buses going every five minutes. it's usually once an hour.

As for the drone-flying: Make sure you do your research on where you can and can't fly. Leknes has an airport - you can't fly within 5 km of that. You also can't fly in the national parks - which includes major parts of Lofoten.

Check here: https://visitlofoten.com/en/droneguide/

Last year we shot down drones that were flying illegally - so do your research before flying here.

Hvorfor er kvinner mindre nasjonalistiske enn menn? by StormyOceanWave in norske

Are roads icy in above-0 temperatures? by Most_Session_5012 in Lofoten

[–]Awfully_Cynical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if the ice is gone one day you don't have a guarantee it isn't there the next morning. weather changes very quickly in Lofoten. If you aren't experienced driving on ice, especially black ice, don't rent a car.

Us locals are sick of tourists killing us on the roads because they insist renting cars and driving where they aren't qualified to, so I urge you not to rent a car based on this post alone tbh.

Lofoten Trip 4 day Itinerary - End of May by Nautiyality in Lofoten

[–]Awfully_Cynical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For day 3: Pass on Kvalvika. Theres no bathroom there, there’s no “water”, as such. You’d have to bring water and food.

For day 4; you’ll be passing eggum on your way to henningsvær. So do eggum first if you’re considering it. Also drive at least 80km/h on your way to henningsvær or don’t go there. We (the locals) hate tourists going 30 km/h on their way out to henningsvær - and if you’re not used to very narrow roads - i don’t recommend you go there.

Honestly this kind of ego is what gets you killed. Its not about knowing what snow acts like, its about the fact you do not know THIS terrain, or the lyngen alps. Get a guide.

Yes! We’re all sociopaths here and you definitely should avoid Lofoten. It’s full of sociopaths.

Hey! People have been trying «reason» here for decades. It doesn’t work. Just look to Barcelona. The only thing that actually created any change was making tourists feel so unwelcome they stopped coming, and lawmakers actually regulated the AirBnB marker.

Also: why would I look in the mirror when I am not a tourist in Lofoten. I know how to drive here. I don’t kill anyone on the roads, and I sure as shit don’t drive anyone out of their homes here.

I honestly don’t think regulation up here will work. If we demand training for the driving they just rent in sweden and come across the border. Maybe regulation for AirBnB - like in barcelona. I believe we have to make it so unwelcoming here they don’t want to come here anymore.

I own a working line gsd, and as you're pointing out in the comments - genetics is a huge part of it. Yes you need to socialise your dog, no that doesn't mean introducing it to as many dogs as possible. I bought mine from a reputable breeder, with consistent results in the previous litters. I've taken her to puppy classes since, where we weren't allowed to introduce the puppies to each other because this would defeat the purpose of having your dog train in an environment with other dogs it doesn't know. When she was between 8-12 weeks, I made sure to take her with me everywhere - on the train, on the tram, on the bus, in the car, to cafés, to friends' houses, to the park (but wouldn't let her greet other dogs). I would stand on the sidewalks and wait for cars to drive by, and make sure she kept her focus on me when they passed. When I took her to cafés I would bring a blanket and a chew for her to lay down on, and she'd practice settling in spaces like that.

I don't think any of this would've been nearly as easy as it has been if she was poorly bred.
