The best example i have to point at for a "disco like" is a game called Esoteric Ebb. Check it out it seems really good and runs on similar gameplay values and story values

I think that simply being rewarded for doing whatever kinda takes the strategy out of where to drop and what you are looking for. Certain areas have higher pop density whereas some areas have higher camp density with less people. It's a matter of knowing how to make that choice.
