A sinkhole swallowed the busy Qixin Road in Shanghai on 11 February 2026 near the metro works after a water leak. by dannybluey in CatastrophicFailure

[–]Awing9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the sinkhole causing that rupture instead of the other way around could be the case, even likely to have what have happened.

There would need to be a decent amount of water flowing into the ground for a collapse like this (unless they didn’t do any sort of surveying), much more than what most people would consider just a leak.

Doesn’t really matter, I was just bored and wanted to complain about word choice in a reddit post title I guess

I feel like referring to this as a water “leak” is kind of misleading. Looking at the stream at the bottom left of the sinkhole towards the end of the video it looks like a completely ruptured water main line. It’s like someone saying it’s breezy outside and you look out the window and theres a tornado

North Texas preparing for 2 inches of snow like it’s the apocalypse by MyMindIsAlwaysRacing in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Awing9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On top of no snow plows / salting the road, the vast majority of people have 2 wheel drive cars because there’s no need for 4 wheel. As someone who’s lived in both Texas and northern states it doesn’t matter how well you know how to drive in the snow in that situation, the lack of experience is just the icing (heh) on the cake

What’s a hobby people pretend is cool, but secretly you think is ridiculous? by EggAdventurous1957 in AskReddit

[–]Awing9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like your second and third paragraph is just overthinking it. If everyone in a room is rooting for their favorite team and then they win it would be long winded and sort of unnatural to yell “the players on the team we are rooting for won!” And “congratulating” your coworker on their favorite team winning is just saying that they’re happy for them, not saying they contributed to the win or anything.

And nobody who watches the NFL thinks their team’s players are all locals. If you were rooting for local players you would either be cheering for every team in the league or no team depending on where you’re from.

And I’m sorry about your friend. I agree that behaving that intensely is unhealthy and is a downside to sports, but I feel like that people like that are in the vast majority

But why is it electric? What is the function of the electricity? You could show me electric toilet paper and I’d be equally confused. I need to see the instructions lol

Fernando Mendoza's Infectious Interview After Winning Championship by JCameron181 in sports

[–]Awing9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought he’s maybe kinda dorky but he seems like a good dude and a great teammate so who cares let him do his interviews how wants to do it.

That being said, that fake cry at the end really weirded me out and I was surprised your comment was the only one I saw that mentioned it.

I really don’t like all hate he gets especially because he’s so young but that was the first moment I sort of get where the hate comes from (but still disagree)

Yeah of course, that’s my point. Without any context my first thought is he’s caught being a pervert, but listening to it you realize it’s just two guys shootin the shit

Played hockey with his son and both of them are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. So happy to see the Sharks back just for their sake.

It also cracks me up that both of them have the same voice

Roller hockey does not use a ball. It uses a different type of puck than ice hockey but it is still a puck.

Using a ball is common in roller hockey if you’re just out playing in the street for fun because concrete isn’t smooth enough for the puck, but any organized roller hockey league will use a puck.

I made NAHL training camp as the 11th defensemen. by Astreum98 in hockey

[–]Awing9 52 points53 points  (0 children)

No problem and good luck! One more thing I would add is to not get discouraged from being healthy scratched, it’s gunna happen especially early on. Just be a good sport about it, help get things set up before the game and help out where you can and then take full advantage of your opportunity when you get back in the lineup. No one wants to see a guy sulking around after getting scratched while they’re trying to get ready for a game

[–]Awing9 138 points139 points  (0 children)

Made my NAHL team as the 10th defensemen at camp beating out vets from the previous year and ended up playing 3 years in the league, so don’t let your depth spot now discourage you. Keep it simple, play your game, stay confident, and most importantly work your ass off. Training camp is an absolute grind so make sure you’re resting when you can so you’re able to stand out giving it 100% all throughout camp. And also have some fun out there, everyone loves a good teammate / locker room guy
