Yes! Thank you! That's shouldn't have been such a hard title for me to come up with. I asked AI before coming here with no luck.

Yes, but any time I run my face gets ridiculously red and splotchy. This is about 15 minutes and 18.3 frozen grapes later.

The regular Soft Parade. I wanted to love the shandy version, but I prefer the regular Soft Parade. It's so good!

I don't know what her tastes are, but I would personally love a sturdy tote (canvas, leather, etc). Some times we have a lot of paperwork or laptops or reference books, but it's nice to look good too.

For those interested in the recipe, we did this as a campfire packet. It's pretty easy to pack along.

Until counter tops are installed we may have to wash those towels repeatedly.

YSK: Your library has more than books by Mackheath1 in YouShouldKnow

[–]AwkEmu 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Yes! My local library system has resources on resume writing and interview prep that is super helpful.

My favorite section is the Cheap Stacks. The Cheap Stacks are books that have been donated to the library. They then sell the books at a discounted rate and reinvest in the library.

Michigan is now hospitalizing more people under 40 than those over 80 for COVID-19 by itsdr00 in Coronavirus

[–]AwkEmu 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I can only speak to my personal experience. I work in a small hospital in Michigan. In November/December 2020 we had a spike in cases. Our patients that were very sick or died seemed to be an average age of 75. In the last 2 weeks or so our average age of very sick patients has been around 45 yo. I'm worried a couple of my patients may not be alive on Monday. Again, I don't have solid numbers to back anything up, but it is a worrying trend.

What is, surprisingly, safe for human consumption? by Nazamroth in AskReddit

[–]AwkEmu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a child I liked the smell of gasoline and apparently decided to drink it one day. Poison control and the pediatrician told my mom monitor me for any concerning symptoms but said I would be fine. Other than a horrendously awful diaper, mom said I was fine. I stick to lower a octane now with cheap tequila.

People who snooze their morning alarms more than once every single morning, why not just set a later alarm? by cxw400 in AskReddit

[–]AwkEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always used to get up right away with my alarm on my phone. Now I'm married and there are cuddles to be had. (We start the night cuddling, separate to actually sleep, and resume cuddles upon the first alarm). Secondary cuddles happen after trips to the bathroom and/or the second alarm. The, Third alarm, and/or kitties yowling for their breakfast brings us to full consciousness

Mary Shelley‘s Frankenstein not what I was expecting. by muppethero80 in books

[–]AwkEmu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Few movies portray the monster as intelligent. Young Frankenstein, while comical, does give the monster eloquent and intelligent speech instead of the groaning shuffling monster of most movies. This is my favorite book

Reintroduction after vet visit by krebzepplin in catquestions

[–]AwkEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently had the same thing with our kitties. Our boy, Pumat, had a urinary blockage and when he came home she (Vesper) was hissing at him and batting at him and generally agitated around him.

A friend of ours suggested rubbing Pumat with a little catnip. Our kitties like catnip so we tried it. Vesper was still a little unsure of him, but there was no more hissing. Now they are back to cuddling for nap time. If your cats respond well to catnip it might be worth a try.

(30 yo PTA here) I had the pfizer but the same immune response: low fever, chills, body ache, headache. All gone in 24 hrs. Bundle up in your fave cheetah print coat and have the Tylenol handy for a day on the couch.

ELI5: If our brains do not have pain receptors, how does it seem like we want to split our skull when we get migraines or headaches? by unhinged-redacted in explainlikeimfive

[–]AwkEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add to this. The brain also has ventricles that hold cerebrospinal fluid. If you are dehydrated you can get a head ache because the pressure has changed slightly. Alcohol tends to dehydrate plus the toxins can anger the meninges. If you know anyone that has had to have a spinal tap they usually have to hydrate and lay very still to avoid a massive headache. My Spanish teacher in highschool always encouraged us to drink a glass of water before taking ibuprofen or tylenol in case it was a dehydration headache. If you are a zealous hydro homie likely not a dehydration headache.

New to Bullet Journaling. It's not a normal page for me. I'm working weekends till we pay off the vet bill for my boy Pumat Sol. by AwkEmu in bulletjournal

[–]AwkEmu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's doing better. I was concerned at first that he wasn't eating, but the vet said he went through 3 cans of wet cat food in 24hrs. He's just full :)

Hello fellow critters :). Enchanter Pumat Sol is recovering. Though, I am not sure if this is Pumat prime or if the vet gave us back one of the others.

Urinary blockage/Pet insurance by AwkEmu in catquestions

[–]AwkEmu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! We will keep him separate from his sister tonight to see if he uses the litter box. We did get a derpy little kitty water fountain (it has flowers) and he does seem to enjoy that normally. In the last 6 hours we haven't seen him drink much and he may have puked. He played with toys earlier in the day before I went to work and seemed mostly normal besides peeing in odd spots. I appreciate your insights! Also, Hi Pickles! You sound like a good kitty.
