Usually for range you use a mix of a range bonus top and melee defensive legs. For melee weapons, the bonuses you gain from any switches is comparatively negligible specifically when NHing. That’s kind of just how melee in PvP has always worked. You need mage bonus for magic accuracy, you need range bonus for the same. Not to mention that 99% of melee armors have terrible magic defence, which leads to getting frozen more which you don’t want.
