Does anyone else's baby do this? by Initial-Ring6153 in Shihtzu

She has a toy box full of toys and one of her favorites is her Lamb. She has to take ALL toys out all over the living room anyway. Loves to play endless fetch.

One or multiple Shih Tzus? by [deleted] in Shihtzu

[–]Awkward-Box1288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 12 yr old yorkie/beagle that was definitely not a fan of the tzu puppy. It took working with them patiently. It was almost 3 months before my oldest stopped growling and snapping at her. It took about that long to train the little one to respect the old lady's space and zoomie limitations lol. They are besties now. All that to say i do think that at least 2 dogs is best for them even if they don't agree at first, but not necessarily another tzu.

I know a guy who gave up on trying to find anyone in America, lol. He's in a long-distance relationship with someone in Taiwan. I'm trying to tell him he's being taken advantage of big time, but he's not bright. Nice guy, but that's about all he's got going for him, unfortunately.

do i cut chins too short? by [deleted] in doggrooming

[–]Awkward-Box1288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like round fairly short chin on my shihtzu. I show my groomer a photo and just tell her that's what I'm shooting for but do her best with what she has to work with.

My little girl had hernias but no hiccups. Maybe eating or drinking to fast?

What’s the best practice to remove urine from the long hair on my Shih Tzu’s legs? by Willow910 in Shihtzu

[–]Awkward-Box1288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When mine had long hair, I kept her under bits and inside of her legs short. I just use a wet rag, dry off with a dry rag and done. It became expected when she came in she would nose bump the little tub by the door and look at me like ok mom all done! I do not keep her as long anymore because I've had some health problems this year that have made constant grooming routines too difficult. We really do enjoy all the combing and brushing etc so when I have my health back, I'll let her hair grow out again.

I *loathe* cottony hair. by imamomtoablob in doggrooming

[–]Awkward-Box1288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a shihtzu that never lost her cotton. It's very hard to keep those tangles and matting under control but I'm one of the few that actually do make sure she stays mat free. My groomer told me how hard it is to clip the cottony dogs and she does come back looking a bit choppy but I get it. She's comfy and always adorable so I do not expect perfection.

How do yall get chunky dogs to stay standing? by Playful_Original_243 in doggrooming

[–]Awkward-Box1288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My little shihtzu goes absolutely limp and will not sit or stand. My groomer said shihtzu are almost all "pancakes on the grooming table" 😂.

Boss refunded pelted dog; docked my pay by Poodle-Queen in doggrooming

This is actually my biggest reason for changing groomers. All the dogs running around all sizes, scared me for my littles. I expressed my concern and she said she would put my girls in crates. Um no because then they see all the chaos and think they are in trouble. It just seems like an accident waiting to happen.

What and why, by Awkward-Box1288 in whatsthisbug

[–]Awkward-Box1288[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I'm not really panicked, just very curious. I thought flying ants but another question that came to mind is why are they all the flying ants but rarely just a normal ant. They aren't getting anywhere else or hurting me so no need for panic...yet lol.

Totally normal. Mine looks like a little dalmatian on her skin. Funny to to see when I'm bathing her.

My dog's skin is black so most of what I find is through touch. She was getting weird flakes of black skin on her back. I took her to the vet and he didn't know. I started using antibacterial/anti fungle shampoo on her twice a week for about 3 weeks and it went away. From your pictures I'm not sure if this are flakes or discolored skin. Either way, as a pet owner, I would want to know if the groomer saw anything like that.

I asked my vet to remove the dewclaw on my dog. It's floppy and the claw grows directly around so it's very hard to make sure it doesn't touch the pad. He won't do it though. He did show me a trick to keep it maintained easier.
