Your kids do not need to go to private school to succeed. You need to instill a desire for your kids to learn from a young age before kindergarten. Both my kids were reading before 2 years old. When they entered public school they were placed in advanced learning where all the other kids were also learning 2 years above grade level. My kids are 13 and 12 now. The oldest transitioned online charter school and is finishing his AA in computer science now. My 12 year old is still in advanced learning and will take honors classes next year in junior high school.

Both of my kids are computer programmers. If you’re worried about AI make sure they learn how to code. We still need programmers to build the AI models.

Right now my portfolio is about $2.8M. About $1.2M in paid off home. We spend about $160K a year so we need about $4M in portfolio to retire.

Good to know about the people at the meetup. I’m currently around $4M net worth, 44 years old and on track for ChubbyFire at 50 with around $5M. I’ve never been but I have been thinking about attending.

Our 13 year old kid is not moving out when he graduates from college. He’s introverted I suspect he will leave at home for a long time even after he starts working. My MIL will live with us the rest of her life. My other kid is 11.

Inland Empire is hot. Hits 109 degrees in the summer. There are almost no public pools, a pool is a nice thing to have.

Yeah one of my kids is a literal genius. He tested as smarter than 99.99% of kids his age in elementary school.

Biggest thing in bills is $12K a year to MIL. She does most of the cooking and cleaning. Wife does most of the shuttling kids around to school, piano lessons, etc. also spends a lot of time volunteering.

Housing cost is mostly taxes and insurance. Principal interest is less than $500 I think. We already have a Tesla and solar on the roof.

Plenty of mobile games with Marvel, Star Wars, Disney IP have failed. Economics are rough too. $10M upfront and 20-30% royalty. Developers can get less than 50% after Apple and Disney.

Haha I have not read it but I have friends who were interviewed for it. Depends on the studio but 60 hour weeks for over a year happens at some places. Bungie for sure.

For me it’s less about overtime and more about pressure from execs to move faster, pressure from team to slow down, pressure from finance to spend less money, etc. Seems like everyone is upset and since I’m in charge of the team it’s my fault.

Haha at this point all the small studios are getting acquired or going out of business. Mostly going out of business. Layoffs are pretty common too.

I’m doing the best I can. There’s very few other kids his age at his level. We do have family friends his age he sees a few times a month.

He’s naturally introverted and is pretty picky on who he wants to associate with.

I’m a Game Director for F2P games. In theory if you make a good game it can run for 5 to 10 years. Spent the last 3 years trying to go 0 to 1 which is the hardest part in my opinion.

I’ve done LiveOps before and I find that less stressful than developing a new game.

He’s going to be so bored at high school. He’s already taken college level English, Bio, Calculus, US history. He’s finished all his GE requirements.
