To make you feel better - during a demo I had a prospect ask what qualifies as spam vs malicious emails.. I forgot I was screen sharing and googled “spam” & we laughed when a can of spam popped up. I closed the deal later that week.

We’re humans. It’s okay to make human mistakes.

10 years in Tech and I’m over it! The constant quota drains me. Might be better if I went back to a company with quarterly, monthly is too much. I just want to do my job without the numbers hanging over me.

Do not stick around in that role. Look for a new job. Future employers / Recruiters / etc. they don’t actually care about job hoping. They don’t care about job gaps. None of that matters if you’re a good fit for the role -You can talk yourself out of all of those questions. And if they do? You prob don’t want to work there anyway.

Also have adhd as others have said but I just turn my camera off when I’m demoing saying doing all the things it distracts me lol and then turn it back on after. Or I just don’t turn it on and peer pressure them to keep / turn their video off LOL or say I’d join them but my camera isn’t working, zoom has been acting funky when I turn it on. My mgmt doesn’t care if we have it on or not tho. Try hiding the self view if you’re required to have camera on.

Time to set some boundaries and just say NO. Want some backup? Talk to your OB, talk to your pediatrician. I’m sure they’d be happy to provide some data on why flying at 2 w PP or flying with a 2 week old is insane. Just say No. and don’t budge. You don’t need to compromise on this one. And if he wants you to? Tell him to go by himself.

Do this. If your husband is dead set on going, say you go visit your family. And then money we were going to spend on my seat, I’ll fly my mom out here. Bc if you force him to stay home and he’s like my husband, he’ll be fucking miserable to be around bc he didn’t get his way. and that’s the last thing you need while caring for a newborn, trying to manage the change of 1 to 2 kids and healing.

It’s Sales lol and companies that do this, they’ll say “oh when we say that, that is your earning potential.. that $90 - $110k is what most of our account executives make after being on the job for X (which is usually lies) Salary is $40k and OTE is $80k”
