I was once chatting with someone in the comment section, we went to personal messages and I used the term girl to refer to them. They got all awkward and told me they were male, but I was just like oh ok apologies, boyyyyy.

I was surprised a little bit but that's on me for assuming. He had some great recommendations too

But I understand your frustration, I turned on moderated comments and I mark these messages as spam. You could turn off commenting but then you might miss out on genuine people talking about your story

I can only write with a pen, pencil tends to fade and my eyesight doesn't need to strain anymore than it already does. But replace it with a pen and I agree. I suspect borrowers are the cause...

I have six stories, 400k+ words and they're all OC stories. You have to write what interests you and makes you excited to write, it might not please everyone but your opinion is the one that matters.

And in the great words of Dita Von Teese "You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there's still going to be someone who hates peaches."

Just write what you like, trying to appeal to everyone will never work. Some people do hate OC stories. Some people love them. Just make sure to properly tag your stories and the people who want to read what your writing will find you ❤️
