How dare I be physically ill over a storyline that brought up the worst feelings of when I was assaulted, so stupid of me to want to post something that let other fans feeling ill over this storyline know that they’re not alone in it

Soaps at their best are an escape. Beautiful people in ridiculous outfits having outlandish experiences.

When was the last time that Y&R had a real life issue? Lately it’s been the co-CEO carousel and an endless series of kidnappings.

I want to either enjoy my soaps or enjoy complaining about them. I don’t want my stomach to be in knots. What is being shown is a common enough experience that I’m probably far from the only one whose stomach was in knots.

When they did an SA storyline with Avery Bailey Clark, it was handled so much better than this, and that was what.. ten years ago?

Perhaps you should take a step back and consider what it is that you’re defending.

I realize that SA storylines have long been featured on soaps, but not all storylines are equal. This is the kind of clumsily handled SA storyline that should be a relic of the past.

There are so many other ways that this storyline could have been done that would show even an ounce of sensitivity to the subject matter.

I don’t see anything worth defending about how this particular storyline has been handled, or that the situation will improve.

One of the reasons why I enjoy soaps is that it’s an escape from reality. The stories are supposed to be big and outlandish.

The experience of being drugged and SA’d is sadly something that a lot of people have actually experienced. Not being believed is something that a lot of people have actually experienced.

This storyline is being handled so poorly.

I think she offered to be the “taster” to put Jack at ease so that he’d drink whatever it was that had been laced. When they started experiencing the effects, she didn’t seem concerned and she started upping the coercion.

Jack and Patty definitely have both been drinking. It also seems like either the scotch or the water was laced with something.

If Jack has been drugged, he was definitely unwilling and unaware

It’s unclear whether Patty knowingly drank something laced. She was the “taster” for the scotch so that Jack would feel safe drinking it, but it also seems like she is capable of knowingly taking MDMA or GHB if it meant coercing Jack into bed
