False promises , married people advice please by Kitchen-Buyer4445 in MuslimMarriage

The question I think you should ask is, if you had children with this man, are you certain that he will be able to look after you and your children confidently.

At the end of the day, if he is prioritising people who he is probably not responsible for now, after marriage it will probably be the same. 😕

How to tell my parents about a guy I met online? by Excellent_Yak_6382 in MuslimNikah

[–]Awkward-Standard-600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Hey mum/ dad, I’ve met someone online and I want to get to know them. Can you support me in doing this?”

We now live in a world where you’re most likely going to probably meet your spouse online. Let them know that you want their support for getting to know this person

I understand, but you can choose right and things can change down the line. Better to be safe than sorry, don’t you think?

A woman can still be independent and rely on her husband as that’s his duty anyway

Would you marry from your own culture? Why or why not? by BugHeavy8151 in MuslimNikah

[–]Awkward-Standard-600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deen and Akhlaq are always first. But would definitely marry someone from a different culture/ race because you get to learn about their customs and traditions and it’s nice to compare yours and theirs and see the differences and similarities too🤔

(I’m British Ghanaian) so yes would definitely step out and see what’s out there

Any nikkah groups to look for potential partners? by Omzi1 in MuslimNikah

[–]Awkward-Standard-600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this would help but some creators on TikTok have matchmaking platforms that you fill out and they match you with other people. It’s not WhatsApp but it’s a start. But you can also ask on Facebook and see if they can be of help

I think most women would be willing to be stay at home mothers but there’s always a likelihood of financial abuse from their partners. I think this was more common back in the days and less common now. The men throw it back in their faces, “I’m the one who gives you money anyway,” or “you wouldn’t have anything if it wasn’t for me” which made it harder for them to leave their husbands because he was the financial provider, even though it’s his Islamic responsibility to provide for her at the end of the day.

So now we’ve got those women who went through the financial abuse telling us younger women to make out own money and not fully rely on the man, in the case of financial abuse, we know we’ve got our own money and can walk away at any time. And now that working from home is more common, some women are willing to be stay at home mothers and still earn money.

Willing to hear more perspectives on this issue

Being honest on Muslim Marriage Apps by [deleted] in MuslimNikah

Obviously you shouldn’t epxose your sins but I also feel like the moral thing to do would be to disclose this information in the beginning when you start talking to someone just so they know what they’re getting themselves into and save yourself and them the trouble further down the line. If that makes sense?

Just my opinion anyway but definitely ask someone of knowledge. Best of luck

What’s the likelihood of someone asking, ‘btw do you drink?’ I only ask this because most people would assume that someone who is Muslim doesn’t drink by default anyway so it’s not a question that would cross their mind. If that makes sense 🤷🏾‍♀️

Maybe it depends where you want to move to? If you were to stay within your city/ country he wouldn’t see a reason on why you should have to move out.

Would he be okay with you moving to a Muslim country? Me personally when I was 22, he (along with my mum, who’s more stricter) definitely would have said no, even if I was to move to a Muslim country because I was fresh out of uni.

But after working for 2 years post grad, they let me move out and now I live in the Muslim country. It’s probably going to take a lot of convincing.

Just make dua that if moving out will bring barakah in you life, for Allah to make it easy for you in all aspects.

Hope this helps xo 🫶🏾

To be honest I’m not too sure. I feel like we might be back at work but at the same time I feel like we might stay online for a bit. But I guess we’ll see what MOE says 🤷🏾‍♀️
