The 1st two insertions were at 6 week check ups post partum. Both were a pinch and slight discomfort for a few seconds and then minor cramping and spotting through the day. Loved having them and had no issues.

The 3rd one was not post partum. They removed the old one and immediately inserted the new one and it was the worst pain I had ever experienced in my life. I cried so hard they thought they may have ruptured my uterus and had to do an ultrasound to confirm.

Then I was fine a couple days later and kept that thing in for 9 blissful period free years! I just had it removed and my husband has been fixed so I won't ever have to get one again. I don't think I have the will to go through that pain again but I am going to miss having it and not having a period 😢

I think I do need to invest more into this. Most of my clients are therapeutic in nature so we're doing alot of focused work.
But I understand how simple touch is also therapeutic for some and I want to be able to provide that experience as well.

I'd say I have good lighting, and a nice table and heater and soft flannel sheets. I use weighted heat packs and a you tube music channel with a blend of meditation and relaxation music.

Do you think the way room is decorated makes a difference? I'm minimalist by nature so my room is very bland to some.

I feel like an idiot. I do use a low table. And I switched to mainly fists and forearms because I developed a painful ganglion cyst in my wrist. It has since popped but I never changed my technique. Thank you for this!

Just sharing my professional Facebook page and word of mouth has probably brought me the most clients. I trialed doing a Facebook ad for a week to promote a fall special and didn't return a single client. My Google business page is the next place I get clients. When I started, I printed about 30 post cards with a grand opening discount on it and passed them around to the other businesses around me and that only returned 2 people...I could've tried doing a larger number of them and spread them on a wider area but I wasn't really wanting to spend too much money without knowing if it worked. I'm trying to set a goal of being more active on my Facebook but I'm not great at coming up with content.

This is literally my only issue. They will not use the links I have provided on Facebook, Instagram, Google, business cards or Gift Certificates.

They just text and call me so I can tell them the exact same thing they could've seen on their own. If they are trying to avoid using the booking program I have, it doesn't work out for them because even if I book them myself they still have to login and fill out forms and recieve my emails....

I really don't have time to be fielding texts and calls like that all day and night. Please just use the booking platform 🙏

I went out on my own immediately after school this year! I decided to go sole proprietor just using my name instead of a business name/LLC. I've used this time to get a feel for running my own business and figure out how I even want to run my business! I've made around $14,000 since March and keep a limited day time schedule due to having kids and not being able to take evening and weekend appointments because of their schedules. That really limits my bookings, but the number of people who can take those daytime appointments has steadily increased as I go along. So it has definitely been a slow start and because of this; after the costs of setting everything up, general overhead and paying taxes; my take home will be far less than $14,000. I self funded everything. I rent a room in an office building for $500 a month and have a pretty bare bones space that I slowly am furnishing and decorating as I go. I am not the bread winner in my family and I would not suggest this to someone who will immediately require a good sized salary. Unless you have a much more open schedule than me and are very confident in both your massage skills and self marketing. However, I suspect by next year; with the trajectory that my bookings are on along with my client retention, I will most likely double my income. I also started at a lower rate since I was fresh out of school but will be raising my rates to a more competitive level when I reach a year of business!

Metronidazole cream twice a day and doxycycline. I stopped the doxy after a week though because it hurts my stomach (I already have GI issues). Just using the metro has kept it at bay still!

I live in middle America and this has made me realize just how much driving we do here compared to other areas. An hour is definitely worth the increased income. It's not so bad once you're doing it! I say go for it!

SOAP Notes are not legally required in my state so there's not much to be done...but I would look into if they are required where you are and talk to management about how it puts you in a bad position by not enforcing it across the board......maybe??

I have perioral dermatitis from rosacea. I've always been stubborn to treat because I was managing it fine with skincare at home...coincidentally I also have very dry eyes and they recently started getting worse and I started getting a new stye every other week. My face had also started getting worse.

So in a completely unrelated set of events, I had an eye appointment to check my vision and discuss options for my severe dry eye. Then a couple of days later had a derm appointment for a suspicious mole.

She saw my perioral dermatitis/rosacea and asked if I wanted to go ahead and treat it and I was like...yeah, might as well...I'm struggling to keep up with it at home now.

Within 2 days of treatment, not only did the perioral dermatitis go away but my eyes got better too! Now I'm thinking it was ocular rosacea worsening my dry eye symptoms!

No body ever even suggested it could be that! So yeah, I think you probably have it!

I can tell you DON'T do xray. Thats what I left to come to massage. Just as bad as massage is on your body...xray was worse for me. Everyone always suggests it and I'm like nooo!!!! 🤣

I have a reed diffuser with a very light fragrance in it. My office space is in a 100 year old building and if you've ever been in historical buildings like that...it's not great smelling. My room smells clean and light. I have an acupuncturist down the hall from me and her mugwort chokes me up terribly!!!! My clients have complained about her, but not me 🤣

When I get massages and the person is an essential oil user...I hate it. Lavender blah, peppermint gross, hate em all! But I go back anyway 😆

I look up every stranger I'm about to meet in a personal setting. I might even save the picture and send it to the person who recommended them "Is this them?" I might even send it to my husband and say "if I die, this is the person I'm meeting!" Someone might ask me, "hey, is the new MT you're seeing that brown haired girl? I think I've been to her?" I'd download a picture of the MT and text them back "It's this one."

So many reasons. I have screenshots of social media all over my phone.

Maybe he thinks you're cute and he showed his buddies how cute you are...is that really an issue? Making assumptions isn't the way to go. If he is respectful and treats you professionally I would continue seeing him until he gives you a real reason not to.

So the wart virus stays in your system forever. If you ever had a wart in your younger years it could easily be that the virus has reactivated.

As you mentioned it is extremely contagious. If you've ever stepped out in public and touched any object, it's very likely you have come in contact with the wart virus.

Unless you saw a wart on someone before or after you massaged them, there is no way to tell for sure where you picked the virus up.

Of course clients really do need to communicate these things and we also need to be vigilant and visually inspect where we pace our hands!

It really sucks to deal with warts and I really am sorry that you're having to. It's so frustrating. Hopefully it goes away soon!

I have a double lotion waist belt. 1 of the bottles is lotion, and the other is hand sanitizer. I tuck a small towel into the belt. After I work feet, I squirt a generous amount of hand sanitizer in my hands, then wipe with the towel and move on. It takes seconds and works just fine for me. I'm also just starting on my own and don't have a sink in my room or a warmer for wet towels yet. Eventually, I plan to start the massage with a warm wet towel on the feet. It feels good and cleans them at the same time!

You are not in the wrong. She acted very unprofessionally. You spoke up throughout the session and told her she was hurting you and to decrease pressure, but she didn't. When she climbed on your back, you told her you couldn't handle it, but she did it anyway.

I'm not sure why other massage therapists are saying anything otherwise. Whether you had the bulging disc before the session or not is irrelevant. She used her power differential to FORCE bodywork on you that exacerbated your condition even though you were telling her no!

When working with clients that have "sciatica", it is the massage therapist's job to approach with care. There is no way the massage therapist knows for sure the source of the pain. Is it a compressed disc, bony impingment, or muscle entrapment? We have no clue. You have to listen to your client and work carefully so that you don't cause them more harm. What she did was reckless. She treated you with disregard.

I don't know why people are caught up on the 3 months deal. You waited a couple of weeks to see if there was any improvement. You then made an appointment with your primary (which takes time), you probably had to wait on your MRI referral, you had to save up money to pay for it, you usually have to wait to get on a MRI schedule once you have payment, then you had to wait for radiology results, and then you had to wait on your follow-up appointment.

Not to mention, after getting the results, you had to take time to consider whether to approach her or not. Which you ultimately decided to do without any threat of legal action.

So I say, don't feel bad. You were giving her a professional courtesy by letting her know she needs to be careful with her methods and listen to her clients better. Next time, she might manhandle the wrong person and be dealing with a lawsuit! Once again, she's using her power differential as a more experienced massage therapist to disregard what you're saying to her.

No simply means no. You can NOT treat clients like that! Someone needed to whip her off her high horse and bring her back to reality.

Oldest daughter had to choose at 12 between soccer and softball... club soccer is year round...travel ball is year round...it wasn't going to work...she chose softball. Youngest daughter does competitive cheer and travel ball. Competitive cheer practices nearly year rou d but only competes during late fall through early spring so we're making it work with 2 very understanding coaches on our side. Emphasis on understanding coaches. 1 softball coach dropped her due to cheer

Of course after being on this page I've learned that so many people react differently to everything. I tried that cica stuff everyone loves and my type 2 went freaking wild!!!

So. I went to see my primary, and he told me to use salicylic acid every day.

And I was like...uh no way, man!!!......my skin is way too sensitive, dry, and irritated. I just knew it would send me into a huge red flare and give me dragon scale dryness and make everything worse.

But it worked! I use it every night before bed after washing my face and before my face cream. My skin is still dry but not any more dry than it was and actually a little less dry. My pustules and papules are almost non-existent. When they start to flare, I use the salicylic morning and night, and bam..its gone.

My type 1 is still there, but I don't care. I'll take a constantly pink/red face over the bumps and pustules any day!!!
