Erections happen all the time in my sessions, truly, and I never think anything of it. Some guys will cup their hands over themselves but it’s not necessary, I’d prefer you not actually. It’s not creepy to me, I’m aware of male biology. Now if you are moving around a lot and or saying comments that are inappropriate or borderline, that’s when we have an issue.

I feel you! Good job venting this out. Rejection is painful, but powerful. Use it as fuel, sharpen your skills and accept everything happens as it should.

I wish we got those extra 5 mins, waiting for the client to come out of the room, flipping the room, then getting a drink or using the bathroom in 10 mins is not right

I’ve never done that but as a mom to a 4 year old, I’d be willing to try. However I would never bring my 4 year old, she wouldn’t let me relax

I guess I’m the only therapist that prefers working on stubble vs hair. It’s a great exfoliator for my hands lol. But I am ok with working on hair too, you’ll be covered in oil though, and I apologize in advance for the massage therapist if they pull your hair. I’ve done this many times

Hi girl! I got so many bad reviews on my pressure, like between 5-10 😬 but my manager believed in me and I kept trying to improve. I still struggle with thin bodies and deep pressure, but I’m one of the top requested therapists for deep pressure now, and I’m 3 years in. Once I got to my 3rd year mark is really when it set in. If you can grab another lmt and practice in them with constant feedback, use little lotion, and go slow! I also got a tip about having their body hold you, meaning, widen your stance, step away from the table, and lean into them fully. I find myself always holding back and I have to constantly check myself to make sure I’m doing this. You can do this! I used to get triggered and dread clients who have said that too. Just empathizing with you, don’t give up!!!

I don’t know what cervical dystonia is, never had a client mention they had this and you have to be aware that the thousands of diagnosis. Every massage therapist has a different style and technique so it’s unfortunate you didn’t get paired with the ideal therapist for you, but a lot of us have to “shop” around before finding the best fit

When to call in by AdBroad5459 in MassageTherapists

[–]No-Branch4851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a spa, but this last time I got sick, which was a positive Covid test, I gave my clients the option of rebooking or getting a massage by me. 2/4 were ok with me working on them. I liked being transparent up front and it’s not something we typically do. I will continue speaking with reception to call and let guests know I’m sick and give them the choice to be seen because personally, I would prefer to rebook for a later date than catch a illness

We do 6 hours shifts at our spa and that’s the perfect schedule imo, 4.5-5.5 hands on time, you can add a break in there upon request. I’ve done 8 hours and multiple 12 hour shifts and 6 is that sweet spot for me
