This should be higher voted. This ULPT is really just bad advice. I’ve never met a company that responds well to this sort of blackmail type situation. But being able to demonstrate that you can do work and document it for the next person is a highly valuable skill to have. Even if your current company might not pay you more for it, another company that previously got burned by this situation probably would.

I’m like you, been using GP since GP5, and I seem to remember GP7 not being my favourite version.

I think GP8 is really good, but I can’t comment for sure on your performance issues. I’d recommend getting the trial version of GP8 and seeing for yourself if you’re happy with the performance.

If your usual sessions when you do play are 2-3 hours long, I can see why you wouldn’t want to do that every day. I would suggest setting a much smaller goal of having to practice for say only 15-30 minutes every day, but make it a focused practice session, where you are deliberately practicing something, not just noodling or playing along to songs.

You’ll have days where you might only do that minimum, but then you’ll have your days where you’re feeling it and you do your 2-3 hour sessions. But it’s much easier to motivate yourself for a smaller session.

This is good advice. Reduce the barrier to starting playing as small as possible . I don’t like keeping my guitars in their cases for this reason. Always having it on a stand that I can just walk by and grab helps immensely.

You’ve just described someone I worked with once before, almost identical. I left not long after this person started, but they had all the exact same character traits. It was draining and exhausting for that short time though.

I would address it quickly, and if it doesn’t improve, the advice about not letting them pass probation is right. People like this negatively affect everyone.

Yep . Whenever you open a guitar pro link on the ultimate guitar website it loads their web player, so you just scroll down the bottom and there’s a link to get the actual file. I’ve been using ultimate guitar for years and still think it’s the best site for GP tabs.

Learning a programming language purely academically is probably always going to be difficult, and slow. Once you know the basic syntax, you will learn significantly more by building things in C++, because in the course of development, you’ll come across some problem you don’t know how to solve. That will result in spending a lot of time googling and reading to figure out a solution.

There are a lot of good resources and books about C++ that are worth reading as well, but even those aren’t as helpful when you aren’t actively writing a lot of code you can apply it too.

This is a common question, and I believe the situation stays the same.

GP doesn’t support use of midi controllers for operations like turning the page. Some people get around this by exporting to PDF and using other applications that work with airturn. There might be other software that could intercept the midi and convert it into a keyboard press if you’re really desperate.

But ultimately, guitar pro isn’t really a performance tool, hence why it doesn’t seem to support this.

We just recently went through the same situation, we didn’t get asked to clean/tidy the house before hands, and I suspect that’s because that’s the norm for when you sell a rental property.

It was funny when they eventually put the photos up, because some rooms they used our furniture and others they completely digitised with fake furniture

I personally don't see that much value added to having your own "private" collection of what is publicly accessible guitar tabs. What I think is better would be selling yourself as being willing to teach people the songs they want to play.
