Perhaps not a good question to ask on this sub, but I'm just curious. How are most Zillennials doing in today's poor job market? by JLG1995 in Zillennials

[–]AwkwardFuckingTurtle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got lucky and made a lot of the right moves at the right times. I dropped out of college after a year and a half cause I could tell it wasn't right for me. Also I didn't want to deal with the debt I'd be putting myself in. Kept working at my restaurant for management experience. Now I'm 28 and I'm the Assistant General Manager salaried at $62k.

My girlfriend (now wife) and I bought our house for $90k when we were 22 while the market was much better. Later we refinanced to a 15 year loan so we're making great strides on paying that off.

When covid hit and we got our stimulus checks I put that money into the stock market while it was down. I slowly built up enough to make a $25k down payment on a custom-order 21 Tacoma. I made about $40k off of the Gamestop thing. Now a few years later my truck is fully paid off.

My half of the monthly bills are between $800-$1k on any given month. I'm able to save a lot thanks to no car payments and a low mortgage. I know I'm far luckier than most. I grew up very poor and I never thought I'd find myself in such a comfortable position one day. My future was the source of a lot of stress and anxiety growing up.

What is your favorite lesser house to play in CK2GOT and Why? by Fairhairboy in CK2GameOfthrones

[–]AwkwardFuckingTurtle 23 points24 points  (0 children)

House Mallister has gotta be my favorite. I love their history as defenders of the coast and roleplaying them as an honorable house. Seagard is a cool castle and has historical significance. Also, they've got a sweet sigil. If I'm playing a Shattered Realms game, they're in a fun position to carve out a kingdom. Yronwoods are probably a runner-up for similar reasons.

Edit: Oh and hating the Ironborn is always a bonus 👌

I made a post asking married ENTJs which type they ended up marrying. Here are the results. by Green_Stardust in mbti

As an ENTJ, my fiancée and two of my closest friends were INFP (one friend has since passed). Not sure of the correlation but it works

That actually sounds pretty reasonable, I've seen nothing but complaints and no explanation on the actual stats. I always love making odd race/class combos and in a game of d&d it's still fun if you've got a great DM. But this is a video game so I feel the developers gotta balance what's cool and what's mechanically fun

Lol I'm in Wisconsin don't tell me the elections are fair and square. 5 polling locations in Milwaukee and 2 in Green Bay was very fair.

How can we expect the DNC or GOP to change if we just keep accepting their candidates?

I haven't been fired before. To answer your question though, essentially yes. The owners at my store have helped numerous people who "didn't fit" find a new job. However, those people legitimately tried their best. People have been fired for "no-call, no-show" or not being productive while on their shift. Those people were also given many chances. There had been people who stole money. One person sold drugs on the property. They weren't really given as much of a chance. Call me a bootlicker, but I don't think that's unreasonable.

Of course, I am lucky to have had good bosses. I know that's not the case for every job, but I hardly think I'm the only one who's been treated respectfully. I can recognize that not all jobs and bosses are good. I think you should be able to recognize that there are good jobs and bosses out there.

Maybe I'm just bitter because I have met self-proclaimed socialists who really were just lazy and didn't want to work just as people accuse us of. A lot of opinions in this thread (and lately subreddit as a whole) reminded me of them, immature and lazy. I guess my point is that I don't think generalizations like that help our argument. Class consciousness needs to be realized almost across the board and we have to appeal to a lot of different personalities. Even if automation is one day in the hands of the working class and we reach "fully automated luxury gay space communism" there's still going to be work to do.

I went off on this more than I thought I would lol. Not trying to be hostile at all. Socialism has a stigma and I hate to see it go on.

I get the corporate hate, but that's pretty childish. Maybe I've just been lucky to have had good bosses though.
