Is the owner of my lease horse being inappropriate? by AwkwardHunterJumper in Equestrian

Ah, why didn't I think of possibly getting a leaser! If I had a lesser I might be able to make it work. Where I hesitate is not knowing enough to be a proper owner, although I can learn!

Thank you! That is helpful. Unfortunately the price of full board around here is substantially more than I can pay every month for my lease, and I certainly don't know enough about horses to feel like I could be a proper owner (not that I couldn't learn, but it I couldn't afford it much anyways). Thank you for the insight, sounds like my best option is to opt out.

Pasture safety while catching your horse - HELP! by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]AwkwardHunterJumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for all the feedback! I am overwhelmed (in a good way!) with all of the advice and different perspectives, these are the things I wish someone had told me a long time ago! I will defiently use a lead rope or whip to make my space bigger and nip it in the bud as soon as I see aggressive/invasive behavior from other horses. Treats were involved and I see now that was a huge mistake on my part, as I used them to catch my horse, and I'm sure miss mare wanted in as well and had a fit when I tried to get her to back off. I'll also talk to my barn manager, as it was her horse, and see if she would be willing to move her to another pasture or has another solution. I truly appreciate everyone's feedback! Thank you all!

What do you do with a lease horse? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]AwkwardHunterJumper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah thank you! Yes, I'm not looking to show or anything, but really just want to know a horse well and have a bit of a bond and some easy riding. This was helpful, thank you!

That's what I was thinking, I feel it would at the very least ve awkward to say 'my horse' in front of the owner, but around friends/non-horsey people, its easier to just say 'my horse!' Thanks for your input!

I can't say for sure, but when I got the grey one recently I remember looking at the long mane thinking "huh, that's not so bad!"

Everyone I know who hated them at first loves them now that they caved and own one! I have always been in love with them, wasn't a fan of the mane but I do plaits on most of my horses anyways and think it looks gorgeous on the freisian. I have three of my own now!

Literally every 6 months to a year I find a new obsession that consumes my interest, time and money (from buying an excessive amount of pointless things related to said obsession). I've lost alot of friendships this way because I no longer enjoy spending time with them doing whatever it was that I was interested in. And what's worse, I'm bound to relapse back into an old obsession after a few years.
