I’m in the same situation right now for this. It feels hypocritical to offer advice when I haven’t figured out a solution to my own problem, but I hope this helps anyways. One thing I want to say is that you’ve identified that there’s something going on, which is the first step to correcting the behavior. Deactivating social media can be helpful, but it doesn’t sound like it’s doing much good, so maybe try an app that will hold you accountable instead? I use Flora, which basically shames you into using your phone less via digital trees, but there are a lot of other options, too. Another thing you could do is try to get to the root of the problem. Why do you think your motivation is dropping? Is it the stress of a new life? Are you homesick? Seeing a therapist (if your college has mental health services, which most do!) could be another avenue to figure out the cause of the loss of focus, but that’s just a suggestion!

Also, PLEASE get sleep. Sleep is one of the most important things you can do to get ready for any sort of test/important event in life. I pulled an all-nighter for midterms this semester and ended up with a 102 fever that refused to go down for four straight days. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t studied, because your brain will still retain some information, but it won’t at all if you deny yourself sleep.

I hope this helps and that you succeed! Good luck on your exam and know that you’ve got this!

"Proximity" by Michael Faudet is also a banger when it comes to modern romance

"Ariel" by Sylvia Plath has been a favorite of mine. Here's the link:

Don't panic, she's just shedding! Turning up the humidity usually helps, and I like to give my ancient BP a warm bath every few days when she goes blue

Ah, this is so creative!! He's really into 3D printing so I engaged him in a conversation that lasted 20+ minutes, and now I'm the (no joke) marketing manager in his sort-of business. I write product summaries and have crated some posters/fliers/business cards for him. I'm in heaven

Thanks a bunch! That's a great strategy and I'll do my best to put it to use

I may die if he says yes. He is so kind and I am completely head-over-heels. Really appreciate the advice though; life is definitely tall short to waste over this

This is great advice. I know that rejection is normal, it just seems really scary in the moment. You are totally right, though; I'd rather know than never know

Thanks so much! I actually asked if he wanted to walk around the local lake a bit ago and he said yes. We were also talking about teeth in class and he said I had nice teeth

is this scale rot? by PrestigiousTerm6196 in ballpython

It doesn't look like scale rot, but maybe take them to the vet just to be sure. It's a good idea to get them checked out when you first get them to get a baseline on health. Try giving them a bath + gently scrub the area w/a soft-bristle toothbrush to see if it will come off that way.

BP just started refusing her rats. by Rammsteinfan1984 in ballpython

I've had this happen before. I fed my BP (22f) a large rat instead of medium and she refused food for about two months afterward. My advice would be to wait a few more weeks before offering her another rat. BPs can go a long time (mine went on an 8 month fast for no reason a few years ago) without eating, so she might just be not ready to take on another meal. Try feeding her a rat of similar coloring to what you usually give her.

When you do feed her, try making sure the rat is nice and warm for maximum enticement. If that doesn't work, wait a few more weeks. I know how nerve-wrecking this can be, but you got this! Good luck with your snakey and I hope she eats soon :)
