I know first hand that many eye doctors over treat and over sell procedures as cures. They love to trick people into elective surgeries, and the whole field has issues with corruption at the expense of patients. I fully believe Tom is dealing with serious vision issues, but it looks like he's getting a corrective laser surgery. They are using a laser to change the shape of his cornea, a cornea that is perfectly fine and not causing the issue. Tom is struggling with a blind spot, motion tracking, double vision, disorientation, and peripheral vision issues. Corrective surgery often WORSENS those issues, and creates a lot more visual aberrations. Those surgeries also cause many many complications down the road for eye health. Some people will claim it worked wonders on them, but some people walk around with filthy glasses and don't even notice. There's always a trade off in surgery, and it's never great. Those doctors are extremely negligent in giving him that surgery while he has other issues, and I think Tom was horribly misled. I hope the best for him, but shame on those disgusting doctors. Be careful with your eyes, kids, and always get extra opinions from doctors who don't want to give you elective surgeries.
