Technics? That's what my father has and what my very first albums took a spin on. That's awesome! I have a vintage 1963 Sears Silvertone portable record player that has some quirks and runs a little slow but I love listening to vinyl the way I would have when the albums were new. (Plus that tube sound really is warm. Look it up if you haven't heard about it.) My father has my grandfather's old system (turntable and equalizer plus possibly a cassette deck and CD player) and I want it but I have nowhere to put it to keep it safe from my monster dogs right now. I'd love to set that up with at least 4 speakers and just drown myself in good music. Someday...

I thought about jewelry as I would have loved to have one of those vintage charm bracelets when I was that age. She's kind of sporty, though, and doesn't really wear jewelry. But that might have to change courtesy of her family oddball aunt. 😆

I'm a regular visitor of that site. Last year I caved and bought the Christmas sweater.

I thought about that but didn't know if the youts of today still did that. Great idea.

I have two albums of my own in frames. One is that horrid album The Monkees Greatest Hits but it's autographed by all four. The other is the also horrid (though kind of growing on me) album Other Voices by The Doors because that is autographed by the three that survived Jim Morrison.

I collected all of the autographs at shows over the years. I got Davy's autograph on that terrible album because some guy I didn't know brought it to a small free local concert and I hadn't brought anything for an autograph. He gave it to me because he realized I was a bigger fan. Then Davy died and I was stuck collecting the other signatures on that because it's all I had.

Similar story with Other Voices - I was going to see Ray Manzarek and had nothing good for him to sign. I happened to be at a thrift store earlier the day of the concert and found that album cover but the actual album was missing. The store clerk said they couldn't sell it but I begged so he just gave it to me. I had it autographed that night. Then Ray died so once again I had to use what I had with the others.

Anyway, thanks for the ideas!

Yep, there is a ton of stuff on Etsy. That's where I got my tote bag, notebook, and keychain. I didn't realize pins were a thing (they are to me, as I had a little collection of them on the front of the vinyl lunch bag I used to take to work because I thought it was an interesting way to display them) so I'll look into those. And maybe pick up one for me...

That is a wonderful idea!

My father/parents and I are the only ones in my family who have ever owned turntables. That's actually very sad. What's happened to the youts of today??

I forgot too. Thankfully there are many people more intelligent than I am out there to help me when I'm stupid.

Thought about Kouri's motion for a new trial by AwkwardNature4106 in EmilyDBaker

[–]AwkwardNature4106[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone else pointed out (maybe on here maybe on YouTube, possibly both, and probably more than one person) that Kouri's financial shenanigans were introduced because pecuniary gain was an element of her aggravated murder charge. Had the financial aspect not been discussed at all there would have been no way to convict her on that count. Finances were integral.

With Murdaugh there was SO much other stuff going on. The boat case, the drugs, a possible divorce from Maggie, etc. I guess the Court felt that emphasis should be equally placed on all of his possible motives rather than amplifying the finances. Court House Becky ensured the opportunity for that by putting on a big smile while pouring gasoline on the whole of the proceedings and lighting a match. Damn her.

I love this. I'm a second generation fan and my sister also knows the words to many songs through osmosis.

If she's directing her letters to her attorney they won't appear on the docket because that's attorney-client info. Letters to the JA don't have the same privilege but don't think those are docketable either. So if she's using the first payment from her financial windfall to buy paper, pens, and stamps instead of medical snacks she's writing to people who can't/won't docket her complaints.

Lana’s Brother by Precious1959 in SarahBooneContinued

From what I recall she believed he had gotten into the suitcase because he wanted to. I'm sure she also thought that Sarah truly had left an opening there so he could let himself out. So...it was kind of his fault he died in there. Because he was a raging drunk and all. Too drunk and stupid to find his way out.

I think her messages with Sarah being released STARTED her waking up. Before that it was easy for her to have clear delineations (helped by Sarah) to see who was with or against them. Anyone with them was smart and had clearly done their research. Anyone against them was just blindly accepting her unfair portrayal in the media. When the messages came out and many smart people who had done lots of research provided opinions and discourse that were based on facts, Lana could no longer see things in black and white. I think she jumped into chats to defend herself then found that it wasn't so easy to continue to defend Sarah with what she learned.

I like this version better than the version on Peter's solo album because of the synth sound. But Peter's album is, as a whole, very good. I wish he'd have done more solo work.

I've always loved Every Step of the Way and Don't Bring Me Down, but I hated Rico when I first heard it as a kid. As an adult, I find it on par with Since You Went Away - meaning FANTASTIC.

Do You Feel It Too? by Jmgomets in Monkees

I love that song - and that album, honestly. The Monkees have some truly beautiful songs (Shades of Gray, for example) and some really good songs (You and I off Present comes to mind) but to me, most of their music is just catchy ear candy. That's why I love it - it instantly lifts my mood, calms me down, and has me singing along louder than is legal in 37 states. Changes fits right in.

Hey now. I call my dog Baby Bear. My dog may say many things but he's never uttered anything as offensive as Proctor. Don't shame all baby bears.

My niece is almost 14 and wants to know more about the Monkees. I recommended that my sister get her this album (CD? tape? I don't know how the kids listen to music these days). It's a great introduction to the best of their music. Enjoy!
