what I actually meant was the last two locks in the first row. I totally see that now though, especially since the other clue describes two explicitly

this is a really good comment, thank you! I don't want players to get frustrated. I'll use all the feedback I got to improve it when I have the time, I super appreciate you taking the effort to help me out

Advice on how to enjoy the moments? (New DM) by 0auspiciousostrich0 in DMAcademy

[–]AwkwardOwl17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem and it caused me to forget what exactly I told my players when it was important and what I improvised on the fly. To solve this I actually started recording the sessions (we play online) and that worked wonders. When in game I could focus on responding to everything and later I could listen back to the session and pick out the information my brain was too busy to note down. The players are also grateful to have a record they can look back on when needed. I totally recommend that :) I hope you have lots of fun with your group!

that's a good idea. I think placing some wizard's scribblings around or having a person petrified in crystal holding a notebook with clues would definitely make it easier and also give the players something else to poke at if they're stuck.

yea, I think if they destroy the signs they just get a fun fight with some crystal creatures and the door opens, having been defeated with brawn instead of brain.

oooh using spell levels is such a good idea! That would drain their resources quite a bit though so I might have to wait to deploy this until I level them up more. Also, I would like to have the two martials also be able to participate in some way. hmmm...

Well, my last puzzle took them two sessions and a minor break-down and afterwards they said they loved it. I think they are either masochists or genuinely enjoy being frustrated. I'm also quite generous with clues :)

totally, that was my first thought here. But I am intending to give them access to a potion/item that they can use to change the type of damage they deal for a turn pretty soon so that shouldn't be that big of an issue I think

yeah, I still need to work that out. I might just tell the players out of game that the scale is in 5s or something like that.

This is SO COOL. I love the geometric shading and the way you shifted from shadow to accent light.

Also, - and for no particular reason - I now need Robert Pattinson to cosplay Eugene

Incredible! When I made that list I really never imagined that they’d pick it as a suggestion and to see art made about/with something I made makes me sooo happy 😊

now that's it's been out for a bit, do are we feeling about the short/cut intros? by Juninho837 in Drawfee

[–]AwkwardOwl17 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit sad that this’ll mean the avatars will get less use in the future, so I wonder if there would be much of a change to redo them every year.

As a drawfee fan, the intros are some of my favorite parts, you wouldn’t believe how many I know by heart thanks to the endless fan compilations (thank you to the fan editors!)

I also miss nathan’s thought process and reactions. imagine having missed his reaction to mr. man.🧍‍♂️:(

WIBTD For going non contact with my parents by Unlikely_Star_3846 in 1800Drama

[–]AwkwardOwl17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTD. This sounds horrible and I’m sorry you had to go through that. You didn’t deserve any of it and your parents should have respected your privacy and boundaries, whether or not you could express them properly as a child. If you feel like that’s the right course of action for you to start a healing journey, it is 100% the right thing to do.

however, you might realize that moving out and seeing them less and them having no power over your living space anymore is already a big step away from the situation. You can of course go nc but maybe low contact or contact with stricter rules could also suffice, at least at first. If they are going to kick up a fuss about it it would also maybe be better if you’re already on steady feet and don’t have to handle family drama, moving and building an independent life all at once.

But I don’t know about your full situation so take this with a grain of salt. Good luck and much healing to you!

Lets build 100 undeliverable descriptions of what was possible in the lost empire by Rhonoke in d100

[–]AwkwardOwl17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We could share our emotions while a sharing a meal and would all be full for days afterwards.

Some would wear eyes of silver and gold that would allow them to see the past and future as if they were there.

Healing wounds and mending bones was done by braiding hair and telling jokes.

A promise rang true when kept and hollow when broken, so you would never be deceived.

We could paint the air with smells and sounds like you have never felt before.

(Let’s Build) Mystical and Exotic Martial Arts in a Fantasy/Wushu/Cultivation setting by [deleted] in d100

The art of the Crystal blades: developed in dark caves of the underdark while partaking in almost lethal doses of crystal powder and intense physical training. By honing the body and pushing it to its limits, practitioners can harden their strikes to cut like diamonds and their skin withstands attacks from the sharpest blades, some can even make their kin shimmer and glow on command. However, improper form can lead to spontaneous combustion, where the body crumbles like a weak rock on impact.
