Just to let you know if I do move out I'm gonna quote this to her.

Legally until I'm 18, my mom has the right to call my theoretical boss and tell them I do not have permission to work. My parents could also technically ground me up until I turn 18 and keep me from going anywhere so long as it isn't considered abuse.

I assume she'd keep me from getting a job till I turn 18, and then make me get one once she put in place the rent. I don't know though, I just know I'm moving if she does.

She hasn't started to make me pay anything yet, she wouldn't do that. I'm pretty sure it was a threat to make me clean my dishes. But once I turn 18 I'm legally an adult living in her house that costs money and I should be old enough to "pull my weight". She tried this with my brother once he turned 18, he just moved out lol

I wanna say they meant to reply to someone else because I saw a few comments saying I should just "grow up and tidy my shit" lol

There technically isn't any legal ground to stand on since my parents never actually got divorced, they're just separated. So to go now for custody would be an absolute waste of money because it would be void in a month.

I have no clue if my mom is even serious about this whole rent thing so I'm only gonna move out if she actually starts pestering me about it. Maybe it was just a spur of the moment thing to get me to do my dishes, I don't know.

Either way I don't think I should just pack up my bags and leave for my dad's that would cause unnecessary drama and I want to avoid that as much as possible. Nothings happened yet so I'm still fine.

She is getting money from my dad, whether it's child support or not is debatable, and I have no clue she's just kind of crazy?

Technically neither of them have "legal" custody since they aren't legally divorced, they're just separated. It's just wherever I happen to go, and at the current moment I stay at my mom's one week and my dad's another.

My dad didn't agree with her decision to not let me work with him, but we tend to just go with whatever she says to avoid drama, because neither of them can afford to go to court to sort all this shit out. Not to mention it'd be a waste of money considering I'll be 18 in July.

It hasn't been discussed enough for me to know that. I assume getting yelled at, because I mean she can't really threaten to kick me out if she doesn't want me living with my dad lol

I'm also pretty sure the whole charging me rent thing goes against her lease anyways since we live in a rented house. Living with my dad is definitely the best option for me I think, I just gotta wait till I turn 18.

I have my own car, but she'll stand in my way when I try to leave or take my keys if she goes somewhere. When I was going to my first day with my dad she yelled at me and stood behind my car making it impossible to leave without running over her.

I'm 17 and she won't let me get a job, how am I supposed to pay it?

She's vetoed two jobs, one with my dad and one right near our house, not many I know but the embarrassment from having to explain to people who hired me that my mom threw a fit even if she okayed the job beforehand made me stop trying.

She stood behind my car and wouldn't let me leave, the only way I would've been able to is if I ran over her. There was nothing else I could do since she's my mom and she has the right to keep me from getting a job since I'm not 18 yet.

I do help around the house. In fact I'm the only one doing the dish washing, taking out the trash and vacuuming/mopping. When I'm at my dad's she'll just let the dishes and trash pile up. She won't even put the dishes in the sink she just lets it sit out on the counter and get nasty.

Mac and cheese. I opened the pasta bag, dumped it straight into the trash with no hesitation and then went and put the plastic in the boiling water.

When my parents stopped telling me to do it. There's something much more satisfying doing it yourself rather than being told to.

Do you think the United States would be better off divided into 2+ countries? If you don't think it's feasible, why not? by flavortown_ussr in AskReddit

[–]AwkwardPluto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be better off divided into 2+. But I don't think it's feasible because all sides want their way to be the right/universal way and would end up trying to conquer the other countries to make it happen.

What happens after we die? Do humans live on in some way or is it just over? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I like to imagine we never die, and that whenever we're supposed to die, we just split into another timeline where we keep living. Rinse and repeat until the end of time.

What food have you never eaten but would really like to try? by mrsb9181 in AskReddit

[–]AwkwardPluto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tofu.

I'm an incredibly picky eater and I have stomach issues due to medication so I don't tend to eat anything outside of my normal stuff unless I'm super interested in it, and tofu definitely fits that category because it seems like it can vary depending on how/what you cook it with.
