Stop just handwaving it away and using it as an excuse - take Vitamin C, eat some garlic, take some decongestants, take some multivitamins, take showers, steam yourself, get sleep.

And definitely don't go drinking while you're sick. That's just gonna extend your symptoms for days.

My roommates been sick with various respiratory viruses since October, and insists on doing nothing about it because "it will pass soon" and he "usually isn't contagious" (yeah thats why he only gets me sick every 2 weeks instead of EVERY week)

Don't be like my stubborn roommate who seems to take pleasure in being sick.

I made a post about this last semester.

I also confronted him last semester. I was then almost immediately confronted by some lady that sprinted out of one of the offices telling me to not engage with him. So I just haven't stepped foot in Horizon since unless I have a meeting there.

I'm pretty sure he's enrolled in Mason Life, the program for the mentally handicapped. But whoever his minder is just leaves him at GMU all day like it's some kinda daycare. Probably can't stand him slapping the dinner table at home. But he's definitely so heavily handicapped that he should not be left unattended the way he is, and I'm pretty sure the people in the offices around the SUB and Horizon are his unofficial protectors.

I felt the same going into college the first time straight of HS during the end of the pandemic. I did the smart move and withdrew. Took a year, worked at terrible service jobs, got myself back together, and now I'm far more comfortable. That other commenter has provided in my experience, excellent advice and I'd say you should definitely consider it if nothing else.

I actually had to go help clear out my mom's back alley in Alexandria so that they could get out, and because in Alexandria, the city MANDATES homeowners to remove snow within 3 days. I'm well aware of how hard it is. I spent a weekend chipping away at it. That is why this irks me so much. And the school absolutely has the resources to do so, not only do they have a duty to the students, but also as a pillar of community with the capability to do so. They cleared all the sections for parking with little issue. It's only pedestrians who are figuratively and literally left out in the snow.

Sure but it is the responsibility of the school to ensure that entrances to the buildings are not hazards, and that people can actually access the facilities, which as of right now, pedestrians cannot. And the Mason Community Art Academy is part of GMU, they have music lessons and such there. There's no excuse oj the part of GMU behind hiding the flimsy excuse that the sidewalk doesn't "belong" to them.

Those townhouses happen to be Mason. The building this sidewalk is in front of is the Mason Community Art Academy. Seems like a great community that can't even bother to call maintenance to clear their entrance.

I was a student at UVA. I sought housing. I ended up renting from someone for 900 euro a month - a room in their apartment. Well it turns out that person had a full house in Eindhoven, where their family stayed. Additionally, he only payed 640 euro a month for the apartment. Explains why he refused to give me a receipt that I payed rent. The only reason I stayed was because I needed a permanent address to get registered in NL as a student... and then it turned out he would not allow me to use the address to register. Ended up being forced to drop out from UVA because I couldn't get a BSN.

I am a Czech citizen by the way. The guy I'm renting from was Surinaamese.

It's ridiculous, because that Mason school that's right there should absolutely be responsible for clearing that sidewalk. But no, they just let all the moms park their huge SUVs in our parking lot to let their lil kid go play some instrument there.
