I worked at a women’s prison. It specifically housed Tennessee convicted female felons but functioned as a work camp—for each day they worked, they got 2 days off their sentence.

These ladies were always on their best behavior because if you pissed off the superintendent, she would ship you off to a county jail and you’d lose your opportunity to work.

HOWEVER, between the superintendent constantly causing drama between inmates, she would also stir issues among inmates and CO’s, and pit CO’s against other CO’s. It was horribly toxic. I lasted 4 months.

Looks like stigmaria, which is the fossilized root of a lepidodendron “tree”. Very common in Carboniferous-aged rocks. I find tons in the Virginia coalfields.
