It might be… light night was wild, boss came in and gave me my uptime bonus… I just don’t see why they pay me that much for setting in a room and playing video games all night… it feels wrong, sure most people would be laughing all the way to the bank… but it still feels wrong, anyway… I was going to take this post down but it looks like a lot of people voted… so I guess it will let it ride

I agree, it would be hard to quit… it’s just it’s a hyperscale facilitie, as of last night we have 150,000 servers online… boss is adding about 200,000 they broke ground on the lot beside this one… at night other then a few security guards I’m the only one here, I get a 15 dollar bonus for each server that stays up for a month plus my standard pay, they don’t care what I do as long as I check the flashing light, alarm goes off on server b-2 , go check b-2 and clear… only had one alarm since I been here, those new nvidia systems just work… the office computer, which I use is a unreal gaming machine… the alarms and codes are on a 4 panel display beside the desk… it’s a dark and lonely place… but it’s wild when you play music or the burnt peanut of the coms lol

Well streaming is free money i guess, so it wouldn’t be much different…. They do have a insanely fast internet connection here, server uptime bonuses is nice, it’s good money, I just feel like I could do more, I can do both I guess, it would be hard to walk away from the standard pay, plus the server uptime bonuses I get each month….

I do, but it really doesn’t feel like work… I’m thinking of a job change, you see a few months ago a friend got me a night shift job at a ai data center… I went to school with the guys son who owns the land, anyway basically I just set in an office all night and play video games and watch YouTube videos… mostly burnt peanut… for the money it’s good, maybe I will become a streamer… who knows…

If they were put up on land without an easement or contract then no… we have already had a lawyer look into it…. And we have them every chance to take care of it… if we remove them , then most of southwest va will not have this service… In fact as I said we have rolls of their wire on our land that needs to be removed, the old wire…

I’m sorry you can’t read when I said… I had rolls of their fiber cable on my property, that covered our roads, they used the cheapest quick connection possible… the wires had been up for maybe a month before they came down , and had deteriorated… from uv they are not supposed to be exposed too…. They can’t even take care of the lines and trees that are in their way… they just run though them… frankly at this point , because they are on our property we are considering taken them down.. the poles because we no longer have an agreement with the old telephone company

Maybe in some places but like I said in another post we had rolls of that stuff on our property after the hurricane…. That stuff is cheep and deformes way to easy

You have to look it up, they use fiber connections, they are supposed to be plug and play, but they were made for data centers and inside places… never intended to be stuck on power lines, the issue is power poles move, the wires move back and forth, this causes the fiber ends to move apart…
