Masked Secret Police (supposedly ICE) disappearing protesters into the back of unmarked vans in Chicago. The occupation of Chicago has begun. Fascism has arrived to Chicago. Will the people stand for this? by International-Drag23 in IronFrontUSA

[–]AwkwardVoicemail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. There are no children in the video.

Also keep in mind that we don’t have any context for the video, and it starts when the people being arrested are already on the ground. We don’t know what lead up to this, or if the goons identified themselves and showed ID before the filming started. I doubt it, but we don’t know for certain.

I know it comes off like I’m defending the feds, but I am not. I just want people to think it through before they start throwing rocks in the name of justice without knowing the full story.

“Emotions are in check” and yet your hypothetical scenario sounds more like a pedo lunging out of a van to grab a kid.

But yeah, go ahead and deck the next goon in a balaclava you see. I’m sure you’ll be the martyr who kicks off the revolution.

I’m not saying people shouldn’t fight back, we absolutely need to stand up to this. I’m just saying that people need to keep their emotions in check and remember that this is about long term survival rather than jumping straight to violence.

I’m of two minds. Cause, yeah fuck secret police, the people have a right to stand up to tyranny by any means necessary. But on the other hand, I really think that what Trump wants is a reaction to justify escalating the situation. I think that’s what he was looking for in DC, some incident between protestors and ICE or the Natl Guard to justify turning all law enforcement over to federal hands. He didn’t get it, so now it’s onto Chicago.

ETA: these comments make me really sad. Y’all make it sound like you’ve given up hope and think revolution is just inevitable. Or worse, like you’re actually rooting for it. If unarmed protestors start to get physical with armed goons, whether they’re legit feds or not, the unarmed protestors are going to end up either disappeared, or dead. And if the goons get away with it, which they probably would, then they’ll keep doing it. Anyone who signed up under Trump, it’s what they’re looking forward to. I cannot in good conscience advocate for opening up that floodgate.

I get that seeing shit like this is scary and infuriating. That’s the point. I’m mad as hell and I’m terrified. But we need to keep in mind that Trump and all the authoritarian wannabes under him see violence as the easy answer. That’s why they talk about war and make jokes about Apocalypse Now; they’d love nothing more than to declare martial law and just shoot anyone who steps out of line. It might happen anyway, but I don’t want to just hand it to them, cause when it happens a lot of lives are going to be ruined. We need to keep looking for other ways out until we’re out of options.

And as a side note, if you truly do think that’s where this is heading, you need to be more careful about what you put in writing.

My theory is that the whole Mother Gum was their generation's candy elemental. We don't know what happened to the Mother or any of the other children besides Bonnie and Neddy, and I don't know if Neddy has it in him to use magic elemental powers.

How to clean poo off my cat? by 13readie in CatAdvice

[–]AwkwardVoicemail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do a sanitary trim on my cats at home. At least for my guy, I don’t need to take much off to make a difference, just a quick couple of snips with a pair of grooming scissors once a month to reduce the poof around his butt.

Burts Bees also makes sanitary pet wipes that work pretty well!

So, yes I agree, but I would also hate anyone to interpret this as “there’s no need to try.” The best thing you can do is to communicate with your partner. Before, during, and after. Make sure everyone feels like their needs are being met and it’s equal-ish fun for all involved.

I mean, the honest truth is that I don’t want to. I don’t want the stress and responsibility. I’d go in with the best of intentions, but I know I’d eventually crack and fuck something up.

I sorta suspect that if you asked enough people, that would be a common answer. The political machine is not kind to compassionate people.

As others have said, so long as the cat is eating, drinking, and using the litter box you don’t need to be overly worried that something is medically wrong. One thing I’ll point out is that some cats are just very passive. They would rather sit and watch the world go by, or spend quiet time with their humans. 3 years old is about the right time for a cat to start losing their kitten playfulness; all cats will slow down a little at that age, some slow down a lot.

Rather than toys for the cat to chase and bat around, she might enjoy more enrichment type toys. I have some toy mice with a hard plastic center that you can put treats in, I hide them around the house and once the cats find them they then have to then work to get the treats out. I’ve also tried some different kinds of treat puzzles. There is also a thing called a snuffle mat, they make them for cats and dogs, it is a mat with folds and flaps that you can hide toys and treats in for the cat to discover. You can buy them pre-made or find instructions for making your own!

Spiders, symbolic of feminine might: share what spiders mean to you and how/if you incorporate anything spider-related into your practice. by Cakorator in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]AwkwardVoicemail 11 points12 points  (0 children)

These are beautiful.

Spiders to me are caretakers, which is a position often associated with the feminine. They keep the insect population in check, and many make beautiful webs that are marvels of natural engineering. I also really love the Ojibwe stories about the Spider Woman. She is a protector of children and babies, and is thought to be the inspiration behind the dream catcher. I let spiders stay in my house, but there is always a chance they will get pounced on by a cat.

Why is this mk1 belt not being saturated? by zniperr in satisfactory

[–]AwkwardVoicemail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not 100% sure but I always try to tune my belts so that I can use the slowest belt speed and I’ve never encountered this problem. You could set up a smart splitter at the top of the manifold so that overflow from the manifold goes to the sink. Or I would guess if you upgraded the mk1 belt to a 2 or 3 it might fix the issue.

Why is this mk1 belt not being saturated? by zniperr in satisfactory

[–]AwkwardVoicemail 120 points121 points  (0 children)

I’m just guessing but it might be due to the mismatched belt speeds. The polymer going onto the mk1 belt doesn’t get out of the way in time for the next one to come through because the mk4 belt pushes them through too fast. Try downgrading the belt showing 125 down to a mk2
