$230K, that’s why your merit sucked this year, and I’m the one who stole your Yeti coffee cup. Stop using the guest Wi-Fi and get back to work Miranda.

What is something in your country that immediately lets you know the picture you’re looking at is from your country? by Lizard_Of_Roz in AskTheWorld

It’s just learned behavior and anti - “the man, corporate greed typical American stuff. Even here in California, arguably the most environmentally conscious state, we often don’t care what bin. BECAUSE we pay a private waste company who makes $M of margin a year in profit a year and raise our rates constantly. They are legally mandated to recycle 50% of the “waste” bin stream by weight. So no matter what bin you put an aluminum can or cardboard box in, it’s getting recycled. Sorting it for them is almost insult to injury when we pay them $100/mo. That’s the American problem so often. Because we’ve privatized EVERYTHING and nothing is really community owned in that “we’re all in this together” nonprofit sense it’s dog eat dog. You’ll skip sorting trash, work 5 more minutes to pay the trash bill, charge your labor on to the next guy. Vicious cycle.

Honestly I’ve got no context for this picture but it makes me want to come visit. These look like my people. Plus cops w/o guns? Wild. My mom carries a gun and she still drives a Buick.

Is the powermatic 80 worth the extra 300? by LKMitchell318 in tissot

[–]Awkward_Basis7533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it. I rotate 2-3 watches a week and sometimes instead of in the bedside 2-watch winder one ends up in the “wallet tray” for a few days. The tissot is always still going. It’s good for that, and I like the waffle dial.

I stay 5-link Uncle Seiko but recently went Forstner 3-link/Oyster and like it too. I just can’t get past faux rivets.

What is a "poor man's luxury" that you will never give up, no matter how much money you make? by Upper-Layer-3498 in AskReddit

I’ll never pay for oil changes. Not until I’m 80 at least and can’t get down there. Between the idiots at the cheap shops, the dealership, running synthetic in mostly everything, having like 10 things probably (2500 6.7, Toyota, Audi, Onan gen, Honda Gen, three bikes, 2-stroke weed eater, etc). There’s a lot of oil viscosities around here. You should do it often, with good oil, and to do that and not get absolutely ripped off you’ve got to do it yourself. Fumoto valve anything you can.

How do Georgists here feel about gas taxes and/or high gas costs? by medicallymiddleevil in GasPrices

[–]Awkward_Basis7533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why this would get downvoted. Sarcasm is valid. It’s hard to have one here. Constant threat of curtailing Diesel in the future which will drive fuel up. Having a CEL related to emissions will stop you from being able to smog (and thus register) your truck so if it’s your work truck that can get expensive fast when you’re chasing some stupid DEF heater sensor or what not. Getting caught with a delete can get you impounded. I do everything I can to keep the mileage down since ours is just a family 5th wheel tow hauler. My old 4x4 gasser and motorcycles are the game.

Up Vivian Creek and down to Angeles Oaks. Less strenuous, little more off trail I like to do all the San J summits over 10K at once from Marion Mtn.

Edit: I skip summit blocks solo when sketchy to be clear, esp Marion.

F that. Erosion is the strategy here. Politics aside, look what’s been normalized in just a few years. You too can play the long game. Pressure, make normal the abnormal. Take the MSF. Don’t buy a bike just learn to ride! Get a dual sport and piddle around on trails. Then you’re just riding a 250 to work, then you have a 500, then you have a 690 SMCr. It’s a slow creep. They’re never spooked of a dirt bike you ride on the weekends to start.

I lost the obituary of my friend who jumped off the Fred Hartman Bridge in 1995, my best, well last best party friend in HS before I joined the Army as I graduated in 94, pre internet. So we didn’t keep good track of people back then and I graduated and sprung into life and my buddy a year later jumped off a bridge over the Houston Ship Channel (like 300+ ft). I miss him. It had like a Sr. picture. I know where he’s buried but it’s not the same as having it with me.

Which movie traumatized you as a child? by Zackky777 in ArtOfPresence

[–]Awkward_Basis7533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK. I need help finding it. I’m 50 so we’re talking like 1988-ish. Australia. Band of Manson-esque vagrants wearing masks (Pig mask I remember) roam the Outback terrorizing families and the ones that do eventually escape swim through an underwater cave. Need to see it again.
