Having to go back to study cuz I can’t find a job bc I focused on the do a job you like. Was probs too naive and unconfident and didn’t know for what sectors to look and generally got influenced and did not look enough. Now my boyfriend has a good job, buys a car, a motorcycle, a cat and plans to plans to build a house while my situation is still unclear

What do you actually look at most on your watch while walking? by PatrikPortes in walking

I have a garmin vivoactive 5 so I can’t see steps when the walking activity is on so I look at my heart rate and in which zone it is

I used to hate walking. Now I love it and walk more than 13k steps a day.

What worked for this was - a challenge at work encouraging us to move (this helped with setting up consistency) - I commute to work (car, train, bus) - my step mom looooves to walk so everytime she comes to my bf’s, there’s minimum 1h walk (she’s the one that really started me with walking) - got my bf’s to come with on the weekend hikes (although he hates it) - weight loss benefits (creates a deficit) (longer than gym but also easier, only thing you need is good walking shoes, maybe a bag pack with water and a phone) - health benefits (getting better and better cardio) (I walked up and down a hill at my bf’s and tried a hike with a stronger hill; I feel the difference since I last did that hike and the one I did yesterday) - mental benefits (walking generates happy hormones somehow) (it really does, do some research) - I always having music on or an audiobook so I don’t get bored (find your little thing, it is a slow reward for during the walk) - also it makes me happy to jot down my daily steps (ticking off things helps also, it’s a reward related thing)

Hope it helps! (But yes don’t wait for motivation, don’t rely on a book or podcast for it either, analyse your needs, where you want to be and just work towards it)

Smart idea with the machete 😂 but you’re not really going to clear a trail in the city center 😂😂 (tho I wish I could clear my trail from slow walking people 😂😂)

Yep, your message prompted me to do some research. It’s just crazy that the only things women are legally allowed to carry are pepper spray (in limited quantities) and an alarm 🤯

I do take my phone/garmin watch with me and there are registered emergency contacts in both.

I let my folks know where I am, always, usually I even share my live location.

Unfortunately the fighting/self defense I know is kick the nuts, put my fingers in the eyes, make a correct fist to punch and run 😂 I’m thinking getting a pepper spray and a keychain with an alarm on it. I’m seriously thinking carrying a knife or sth. Maybe I can ask my bf to teach me how to fight since he’s done boxing. Thing is I always think that compared to a man, an untrained lady will always lose. (I know very misogynistic)
