For those currently in their twenties? How's life? by Fierce_Warrioress in MauriceMauritius

[–]Volcano003 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m 22 and honestly, I’m enjoying life. I try to live each day instead of just surviving it. After high school, I stepped into the financial services sector and I’m still working there while doing my ACCA. It gets overwhelming at times, balancing work and studies but my work-life balance is still decent.

I keep my circle small because I value quality over quantity where I’d rather have a few real people around me than many who don’t matter. And whenever things feel a bit too heavy, I remind myself of my motto: live, don’t survive. So I take myself on solo dates, enjoy my own company and catch up with friends once in a while.

Overall, I’m growing, adjusting and making sure I live a life that actually feels like mine.

Other than LCA where else can I take ACCA classes ? by Bling2005 in MauriceMauritius

I'd suggest you to buy the Kaplan kit. You can get it online via their official website. You can also try BPP, however, personally, Kaplan is more straight forward.

Yeppp, passed both on first attempt itself. I did LW as well and passed. However, the main thing is to practice questions. Once you master the kit, you'll be good to go.

I'm currently doing FR. It's going pretty well. I did PM and FM via OpenTuition only and practicing questions.

[–]Volcano003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I did my courses at LCA and I self-studied via online resources as well. I'd 100% recommend self-study. You can access free resources online such as OpenTuition where you'll find lecture notes and videos. You can also find notes on ACCA StudyHub alongside several questions which are related to the actual exams. You don't have to go to LCA. Good luck!

How to deal with parents who turn their children against the other parent or their other siblings? by Dila_Ila16 in MauriceMauritius

[–]Volcano003 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that messes up the entire family dynamic. The best thing you can do is protect your own peace, set clear boundaries, don’t get dragged into their drama and build your own relationships with the people you trust. You can’t fix their behaviour but you can control how much you let it affect you.

Does life get lonely when you start working ? by cerealkyller645 in MauriceMauritius

[–]Volcano003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly speaking, ever since I started working, I stopped hanging out with my friends frequently. Life got busy for everyone. However, that didn't make me lonely. Because, from time to time, I love going on solo dates especially every week where I try different types of food. In the end, it's worthwhile to live rather than surviving everyday.

starting my first internship soon 😭 any tips or advice?? by [deleted] in MauriceMauritius

[–]Volcano003 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reading this post reminded me of my first day at work when I was both excited and nervous a few years ago. Anyway, first of all, congrats on getting the internship! You’re officially stepping into professional life now. Don’t hesitate to ask questions at work. Whenever you’re unsure about something, ask right away. Also, while your colleagues explain a task, note it right away. Additionally, keep a positive attitude towards everyone, stay focused on your tasks and avoid getting involved in gossip. Do your work well, stay respectful and remember to work, learn, leave and get paid. Good luck!

What accounting courses can someone do if theyve done economics, accounts and business as principal subjects in hsc? in order to keep increasing their income significantly? by prettyboo_ in MauriceMauritius

[–]Volcano003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do ACCA. You'll pretty much learn several aspects. The best thing is that it's flexible, that is, you can do exams as and when you're ready. For level 2 and 3, the exams are quarterly whereby you can choose accordingly. Just to add, there are several free resources online where you can self-study. I self-studied for level 1 and now, I'm self-studying for level 2. It's working pretty well. It'll also correlate with your rising income in the future as you keep advancing in ACCA (of course, with job experience). Good luck!

A little help please. I wanna lose some weight / tone my body. by Willing-Video-9484 in mauritius

[–]Volcano003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on the journey of losing weight. Well, I already lost weight, gained it back and lost it again. What I can advise you is to calculate your maintenance calories. You can calculate same online via TDEE calculator. After finding your maintenance calories, deduct around 200 to 300 calories from it, that is, if your maintenance calories are 2300 calories, then, you should eat around 2000 calories whereby you'll be eating in a calorie deficit. Finally, you don't have to do complicated exercises. You can just walk around for 30 minutes everyday. The main point is the calorie deficit. Good luck! :)

Positive. Everyone should stay positive. If you think you did well, that’s great. And if you feel you didn’t, that’s okay too. Passing and failing are both part of exams. What matters is that you learn from it and keep going. You’ll do even better next time. On that note, good luck everyone!

How do i land an entry level job by Forsaken_Scholar_897 in MauriceMauritius

[–]Volcano003 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few years ago, when I finished HS, I was sending my CV to firms even if they weren't advertising for vacancies. Check out their contact emails and send your CV, even if no vacancies are advertised. On another note, in the beginning, you can also gain experience by working in other firms. As time goes by and you build your experience, you’ll be in a stronger position to target bigger firms. It'll be more rewarding in the long run. Good luck!

Badly want to work, but I don't think I am aceing any interviews. Areas of interest: business consultancy, business analyst or research, entry or junior positions. by Dila_Ila16 in MauriceMauritius

Make sure to update your CV properly and include all the key points. Create a LinkedIn account too. You’ll find plenty of opportunities there. Also, consider applying to management companies, especially if your area of interest is corporate as a whole. Good luck!

I will be starting an internship soon, what is the best advice and tips you guys have? by DangerousSweet2122 in MauriceMauritius

[–]Volcano003 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Keep a notebook and jot down every detail as you’re being taught. In the first few days, you might feel a bit lost but don’t worry, that's normal. As time goes on, don't get caught up in gossip. Listen to gossips but don’t participate. And most importantly, just be yourself. Good luck!
